Coal seam gas has emerged as a major industry in Australia in little more than a decade.

The scale and speed of its growth has been nothing short of astonishing: billions of dollars have poured into regional areas; new jobs have been created; state and national coffers have swelled; export contracts have been signed and sealed; massive liquefied natural gas facilities have been approved for construction at regional ports.

Farmers fear they are losing control of their land. Miners and some politicians say coal seam gas offers a much greener energy choice. Environmentalists and other politicians have cast doubt on those claims.

Refuse The Refugees: The Australian People’s Resistance To Refugee Immigration, Protest Meeting And Forum

The Australia First Party has called a protest meeting and resistance forum on September 17 to stiffen community opposition to the continued influx of so-called refugees and ‘asylum seekers’.

This meeting now operates in the framework where, as a result of a recent High Court Of Australia decision – that Australia’s borders have been broken open.

The Australia First Party will escalate its campaigns across Australia around the slogans to refuse the refugees – and then to expel them.

Dr. Jim Saleam said today:

“Our party is not concerned whether refugees or ‘asylum seekers’, as they style themselves, are legal or illegal, whether boats are stopped but then the refugees are flown in, what their cause was and why they ostensibly left their homelands, or whether they are purely economic parasites – we oppose all intakes and we demand the repudiation of the United Nations convention that governs their admission. We will campaign for the return of all refugees who have entered Australia.”

The Australia First Party is alone amongst any number of parties and associations that have been supposedly critical of Australian refugee policy for stating the obvious: the refugee influx is an act of recolonization and genocide; it is supported by various economic and political interests and it strikes at the survival of the Australian Nation in the twenty first century.

Dr. Saleam added:

“Our meeting is all about teaching people how to resist the program and to fight the brainwash. We have several strategies in mind and we have pioneered some of it in building the people’s resistance in the Adelaide Hills to the Inverbrackie intrusion. I have been nominated by the party to contest the Federal seat of Cook against the Shadow Immigration Minister, Scott Morrison. I see this forum as a sort of campaign launch, as Mr. Morrison is in the centre of the organized lying from the Liberal Party that it will somehow halt the influx.”

Australia First Party denounces the Federal Human Rights Commission for appointing a new Race Discrimination Commissioner in response to public opposition to the refugee program and says that it will aggressively agitate come what may. We do not recognize any laws designed to restrict our urgent activities. The party also denounces the recently formed Sydney Alliance, a group of religious organisations and churches which intends to try to propagandise the community on the refugee question and is supportive of multiculturalism.

Dr. Saleam concluded:

“The refugee program is just a foreshadowing of what is truly coming in the decades ahead – a veritable unarmed assault upon Australia used by other powers for advantage. Australia First Party is saying that the refugee question will be, if it isn’t already, an issue over which Australian citizens are deeply divided and about which they may come to confrontation. We note that the open-door-side is dictatorial and unbending and is to be imposed upon the Australian people by force. We intend to target this gaggle of lawyers and traitors, pseudo Green Human Rights propagandists.
Our party, unlike any other party or group critical of the program, says that when this struggle against the open-borders-gang is won, we look forward to the establishment of a Resettlement Fund partly paid for by the expropriation of the property and assets of all who aided and abetted a treason against the Australian People.”

Australia First Party's heritage nomination of Blue Mountains 'Pulpit Hill'

Australia First Party has made a nomination that 'Pulpit Hill' just west of Katoomba be placed upon the State Heritage Register. The nomination was filed at the NSW Heritage Office (Heritage Council) in Parramatta yesterday.

This nomination is based upon the Australia First Party’s perception of the value of any and all aspects of Australia’s Heritage.

The nomination for Heritage recognition notes the precinct was ‘…Long a valued resting place by Australia’s earliest pioneers, long lost to nearby progress, eternally a celebration of our Australian heritage”.

Dr. Jim Saleam, Chairman of the party in New South Wales said today:

“The nomination proposal was written by various persons and was the product of a collective effort. There is a threat posed to Pulpit Hill and other heritage items of the Blue Mountains by the Roads and Traffic Authority (...we are behind locals in their ongoing fight against the RTA and we are well aware of the RTA's reputation for dismissive arrogance and destruction of Blue Mountains heritage and amenities at every stage of its highway development).”

The Pulpit Hill precinct has historical origins with Macquarie, but more importantly with Australia's convict heritage and the convict labour in building Cox's Line of Road, with the famed ‘Hitchen's Cooees’ and the 263 diggers who volunteered with the Australian Imperial Force in 1915, with Australia's celebrated poet Henry Lawson, and many pastoral pioneers and gold diggers who made the crossing over the Blue Mountains. The famed ‘Explorers' Tree' was reputedly marked by the three explorers who first successfully crossed the Blue Mountains back in 1813, and their significant 200th anniversary is almost upon us!

Dr. Saleam said:

“The nomination process will be publicised and there must be a campaign such that this area be so recognized. I believe there may be opposition within the ranks of Blue Mountains Council to the full recognition of the Pulpit Hill precinct as a vital area of heritage. I note that some historical associations and groups have expressed an interest in this project.”

Australia First Party may have made this proposal, but this is a proposition that any Blue Mountains person may proudly support of his/her own accord.

Muslim whipping in Sydney for drinking alcohol

Normal Aussie Scenario: Christian, a 31 year old Sydney bloke had a few drinks down the pub with his mates last Saturday night.

Abnormal Muslim Scenario: After getting home, at 1am Christian awoke to find four muslims in his bedroom. Three held him down on his bed while another whipped him with an electric cable 40 times!

Why? He had drunk alcohol in Sydney. What the?

'The 31-year-old was asleep in his apartment in Menton Street Silverwater, in Sydney’s west, when he woke to find four heavily bearded men in his bedroom about 1am Sunday 17-Jul-2011. Three of the intruders restrained him on the bed while the fourth man used a cable to lash him 40 times. Three of the men, in their late teens or early 20s, allegedly held him down on his bed while a fourth, aged between 40 and 50, lashed him about 40 times. The attack lasted about 30 minutes and left the man covered in welts. The man reportedly told police he had only recently converted to Islam and that fundamental Wahhabi Muslims were punishing him for having a few drinks with friends.'

In backward Islamic countries, drinking alcohol is against islamic 'sharia law. But it is not against any law in Sydney, Australia. If only Australian diggers who fought for Australian values in two world wars in the middle east could see what is now happening to Australia?

These backward barbaric muslims think they can bring their backward barbaric laws with them to Australia when they immigrate. Well its time Australian Immigration Law reflected Australian values. Number one rule needs to be instant deportation of all the four men involved in imposing sharia law to be sent back to where they came from!

Yet we keep reading in the Sydney papers more and more of ethnic crimes across western Sydney. It has become an ethic ghetto with ethic rules. Sydney has sold its soul to the ethnic minorities who our government encourages to practice their own religion and culture. It's called 'multiculturalism'. So when you enter the western Sydney enclave, it's now 'spot the Aussie', efnics dominate, shop signage is unreadable and where Australian rules are ignored and ethnic rules enforced.

One of the muslim whippers aged 20, is Tolga Cifci, from Auburn (western Sydney) who has been charged by Sydney police with aggravated breaking and entering and committing an indictable offence. 'Tolga Cifci' - what sort of name is that? Cifci has confessed to inflicting the whipping as punishment under his barbaric 'religious law' in the name of Islam, all because Muhammad apparently once flogged a man forty times for drinking alcohol. That was 1500 years ago, yet it doesn't seem to matter to these backward fanatics.

Henry VIII hung drew and quartered those convicted of treason 500 years ago, and Americans burned witches in Salem just over 300 years ago.

But this is Australia 2011! We don't lash, stone, hang, draw, quarter or burn people now, kappish?

Problem is Cifci was born in Australia. He is a fanatical 'Wahabi Muslim' and a member of the Auburn Mosque in western Sydney.

Clearly, his parents have ignored Australian laws and passed on backward foreign customs to their offspring.

So thanks to Australia's indiscriminate immigration policy, ethnic western Sydney has become a breeding ground for extreme muslims like Cifci and his cohorts.

The Australian Army is wasting its time fighting the muslim fanatics in Afghanistan, while the Department of Immigration is letting Wahabi Muslims in a practice sharia law in our own backyard.

Sharia Law a Scourge on Australia

Islamic sharia law is a scary impost to civilised societies like Australia's.

It imposes totalitarian dogmas covering most aspects of human life, including requiring compulsory islamic worship, ritual purification, prayers, fasts, charity and pilgrimages to Mecca.

It prescribes harsh rules for all financial transactions, taxation, endowments, laws of inheritance, marriage, divorce, and child care; condones domestic violence between married couples (wife beating). It imposes rules for food and drink (including ritual slaughtering and hunting (halal)), penal punishments, war and peace; military policy, and judicial matters (including witnesses and forms of evidence.

It requires inhuman slitting of animals throats, stoning of adulterers, execution of apostates and blasphemers, repression of other religions like christianity or buddhism.

It's like the Taliban being invited to fly to Australia and set up in Canberra. I can see a minaret being added to parliament house.

What is a scary reality is that in Britain, where muslims have been allows to immigrate and populate in their hundreds of thousands, Sharia courts have become operating to rule on disputes between Muslims, in defiance of the common law. Five sharia courts have been set up in London, Birmingham, Bradford, Manchester and Nuneaton, Warwickshire, all places where the muslim enclaves have been allowed to fester.

The British government has quietly sanctioned that their rulings are enforceable with the full power of the judicial system, through the county courts or High Court.

Previously, the rulings were not binding and depended on voluntary compliance among Muslims.
Lawyers have issued grave warnings about the dangers of a dual legal system and the disclosure drew criticism from Opposition leaders.

Dominic Grieve, the shadow home secretary, said:

"If it is true that these tribunals are passing binding decisions in the areas of family and criminal law, I would like to know which courts are enforcing them because I would consider such action unlawful. British law is absolute and must remain so."

‘Go Back Where You Came From’: SBS Propaganda: Is It Also A Hoax – And An Opportunity? (Bill Rezac)

SBS screens this week a three part series ‘Go Back Where You Came From’, a documentary which shows a group of Australians being confronted (sic) with the living conditions of so-called ‘refugees’ in the camps of Asia and Africa and with their difficult journeys (sic) to come to Australia.

The program is pure propaganda.

Originally, Australia First members Jim Saleam and Perry Jewell, were also approached to participate. As could reasonably be expected, the tentative invitations to these nationalists were not pursued. At all points, the true purpose of the producers was to choose persons who were likely to be ‘remoulded’ by a type of hands-on live-drama re-education.

So it was.

At no time does this program really explain that refugees (sic) are often people who have declined to take up arms against their alleged oppressors, that the conditions they may find themselves in are in one sense of their own making, what economic refugees may be as opposed to political dissenters, that many consider permanent flight of better value than a fighting return, that many have social practises repugnant to Australian society, that many of these people may also hate and be envious of those who possess wealth and territory – and that overpopulation and New World Order wars and other ethnic based strife are the chief underlying causes of many outpourings from the Third World.

We are witness then to an attempt to brainwash Australians to accept that they are guilty people if they lack compassion.

In fact, for most Australians other than the liberal minded, there is a feeling that this brainwash should be resisted but they don’t know how.

The Case Of Raye Colbey

The star of the show, Raye Colbey, is described as a lady from Inverbrackie in South Australia where a refugee detention centre has been founded. Mrs. Colbey goes on the SBS organized jaunt overseas and learns about her ‘hate’, learns of compassion and so forth.

Reports passed to Australia First in South Australia, suggest that Mrs. Colbey has family members involved in support campaigns for so-called refugees.

Mrs Colbey has been a victim, if she really is a victim, of psychological manipulation. We note how quickly the usual media suspects have been to publish a public recant from her of her ‘former’, t=racist (sic) views.

Schools Will Get The SBS Doco But ‘The Camp Of The Saints’ Will Be There In Reply

A report was given to Australia First in New South Wales that the program will be shown on DVD to high school students as part of a propaganda offensive to soften students’ attitudes to the refugee invasion. This offers an opportunity for the new Eureka Youth League and Australia First Party to fight back.

Both organisations will surely seek to make mass awareness of the antidote: The Camp Of The Saints, the 1972 novel which explained the psychosis the dominant groups of our Western societies faced with a refugee invasion of European lands – a work composed before there were any mass refugee outpourings from the Third World. This revolutionary novel posited that overpopulation and poverty, war and envy, would propel masses towards the vision of a better life. "A Dutch court acquitted populist politician Geert Wilders of hate speech and discrimination today, ruling that his anti-Islam statements, while offensive to many Muslims, fell within the bounds of legitimate political debate.

Presiding judge Marcel van Oosten said Wilders' claims that Islam is violent by nature, and his calls to halt Muslim immigration and ban the Muslim holy book, the Quran, must be seen in a wider context of debate over immigration policy.

The court said his public statements could not be directly linked to increased discrimination against Dutch Muslims.

Wilders sat stone-faced while the judge read the ruling, but smiled broadly and shook hands with his lawyers after the verdict was announced. He waved to cheering supporters who hugged each other in the public gallery, and grinned as he left the courtroom.

Wilders, one of the most powerful and popular politicians in the Netherlands, was accused of inciting hatred and discrimination against Muslims through numerous public statements, and with insulting them by comparing Islam with Naziism.

"I'm incredibly happy with this acquittal on all counts," Wilders said outside the courtroom.

"It's not only an acquittal for me, but a victory for freedom of expression in the Netherlands. Fortunately you're allowed to discuss Islam in public debate and you're not muzzled... An enormous burden has fallen from my shoulders," he said.

Groups that filed the complaints against Wilders that ultimately led to his prosecution said they were disappointed with the ruling.

Lawyer Ties Prakken, who represented some complainants, was quoted by local media as saying Dutch courts are failing to protect a religious minority from discrimination. With legal avenues in the Netherlands exhausted, she said she's preparing an appeal to the U.N. Commission on Human Rights in Geneva.

The court found that Wilders' rhetoric was at times on the edge of what is legally permissible.

The judge described his statements about a "tsunami" of immigrants overrunning the country and threatening its culture as "crude and denigrating," but legally legitimate given the wider context and his further statements that he has no objections to Muslims who integrate and accept Dutch values. Wilders, who lives under constant protection due to death threats, has never called for violence or endorsed it.

In speeches and written articles, Wilder said Islam is an inherently violent religion, and he compared the Quran with "Mein Kampf," Hitler's tirade against Jews — an especially touchy image because of the large number of Dutch Jews handed over to the Nazis in World War II.

The court paid special attention to Wilders' 2008 film, "Fitna," Arabic for "ordeal" — a 15-minute series of verses from the Quran juxtaposed against news video of violence and terrorism. The film prompted angry demonstrations and official protests around the Muslim world.

"Given the film in its whole and the context of societal debate, the court finds that there is no question of inciting hate with the film Fitna," the judgment said.

In court, Wilders had argued that his statements represent the views of millions of Dutch voters and are protected by freedom of speech law. He accused the court of bias against him and claimed the charges were politically motivated.

Even the prosecutors called for his acquittal. Despite their reluctance to prosecute, the judges ruled last year that the case should be put to a judicial test.

Last April the same court acquitted Abdoulmouthalib Bouzerda, chairman of the Arab European League, of hate speech charges for publishing a cartoon on its website questioning the reality of the Holocaust.

The group had intended to spur public discussion about a perceived double standard: that European media are willing to publish cartoons mocking Islam's prophet Muhammad, while cartoons about the Holocaust are taboo."

There is a shortage of land for new housing.
Local unemployment is high, which means many have to commute off-mountain to find work.

So why is there a new migrant agent set up in Bullaburra - 'Duc Legal'?

Who is plotting for migrants to invade the Blue Mountains?

Is this an attempt to convert Bullaburra to an Upper Blacktown?

'Duc'? Sounds Vietnamese, or are we to see bus loads of Syrians arriving, or Sri Lankans, or Iraqis, Lebanese, Sudanese.

Where will they get work or will they just linger idle on some government welfare program?

Perhaps they'll all get work as shelf packers at the new Woollies in Leura, or the new Coles when it opens in Katoomba in 2012. The construction company at the Katoomba Cultural Centre site only employs foreign labour. The whole project was a Labor construct of the (Foreign) Labor Party. Look at any government official in Sydney and try to find one born in Australia?

Subway has a policy of employing foreign labour only, so perhaps Subway plans to open more stores in the Blue Mountains - 'no colour, no start'!

This spells the death knell for Bullaburra. Bring back the Strange Brew witchcraft shoppe - at least it provided a valuable service for locals.

Palerang Election Campaign: John McGrath For Australia First Polls A Solid 6.1%

Australia First Party candidate for Palerang Council, John McGrath, has won a solid 6.1% - 430 votes - in the by-election held yesterday (these figures are not yet final).

Once again, we have shown that there is a definite community and electoral clientele for our party. In the 2008 NSW local government poll, Australia First won 4% in the Sutherland Shire and some 5.67% in Blacktown City. In a Sutherland Shire by-election in October last year we crossed over the 4% line again. In June 2010, in the Hawkesbury City by-election, we won 9.4%.

If a full Council election had been held in Palerang yesterday, John McGrath may have picked up the last position; indeed, some of our polling booth workers conversed with the current Mayor, who himself picked up the last seat in Palerang in 2008 - with just over 3 % of the vote!

Mr. McGrath has signalled his willingness to contest Palerang in 2012, along side of Australia First Party candidates set to contest (and win!) - in a swathe of councils across the State.

Palerang Shire By Election Campaign

Australia First Party has entered Mr. John McGrath in the Palerang Shire Council by-election to be held on May 14. Palerang is centred on the New South Wales rural towns of Bungendore and Braidwood.

Mr. McGrath has been a Palerang resident for four decades and has mainly been involved in farming. He has also been a committed nationalist activist with a long history in various organisations. He has been a member of Australia First Party since it was re-established as a new corporate entity in September 2007.

The campaign in Palerang Shire has moved well with firm local contacts being made by the party. Articles mentioning the party have appeared in local newspapers and other publications. John McGrath, has been scheduled to speak at a community meetings with other candidates, in Bungendore., Braidwood and Wamboin.

This election is the first time that anyone has raised the Murray Darling water conspiracy as an electoral matter. It is John’s intention to assist in deepening the community resistance to the schemes of the Murray Darling Basin Authority which will surely destroy Australian agriculture – in favour of the foreign and local mining magnates who have mining claims all over the Riverina and other affected areas. Nothing very ‘green’ there! Rather, environmental concerns with water usage and being used as a smoke screan by the multinationals and other exploiters.

We publish the Palerang Australia First programme as it appears on John’s recently printed how-to-vote card.

(i) For Citizens’ initiated referendum at council level; I want to see people be able to propose Council policy and by-laws directly so as to maintain democratic control over their representatives.

(ii) Against the NSW Department. of Planning scheme to expand the population of Palerang by 69% by 2036. I am sure this will be immigration-driven. Immigration is no friend of lifestyle, the environment or our heritage and is surely a policy whose time has passed.

(iii) Against the water takeover plans of the Murray Darling Basin Authority. The water plans threaten to destroy Australian farming and regional communities. The UN Treaty RAMSAR upon which this is based is acceded to by the major parties, Greens and others. I stand opposed and will work with all to win against the government.

(iv)To make Palerang more friendly towards road transport. I note that farmers depend on the trucking industry and while I believe in the extension of rail wherever possible, Council must try to protect this vital industry.

(v) For greater autonomy for local Councils over the NSW Department of Planning. I want to see domestic planning decisions made for the benefit of people.

Pauline Hanson In The Legislative Council?: Thanks, But No Thanks!

Australia First Suggests Vote For John Hatton (Group C) Or The Shooters’ And Fishers Party (Group P) For The Legislative Council

Australia First is supporting two candidates in this election, Tony Pettitt in Riverstone and Tony Robinson in Mulgoa.

In all other electorates, if voters give preferences, we recommend that the sitting member be placed last.

Some media attention has been focused on Pauline Hanson who has formed a group and has nominated for the Legislative Council.

Australia First does not counsel a vote for Mrs. Hanson.

Australia First would recommend a vote for either Group C, formed by one-time Legislative Assembly Member John Hatton, or for Group P, the Shooters’ And Fishers’ Party.

John Hatton has a proven public record against corruption and mismanagement in New South Wales. His great achievement will forever remain the reform of policing through a Royal Commission. The Shooters’ And Fishers’ Party will stand up for people’s rights to enjoy their sports and their lives free of government over-regulation.

Australia First has grave doubts as to the motives of Mrs. Hanson and some of those on her ticket.

The pro Australian nationalist-minded and patriotic section of the people in this State should not expect anything from Pauline Hanson. Her attempt to speak for them is besmirched by her track record of mismanagement and betrayal of her former parties – One Nation and Pauline’s United Australia Party.

After the election and her failure to be elected, we would expect further ‘come backs’ hosted by dubious forces.

If we are criticized for our position by any group or person, we can only reply that we stand for principle.

c. Accountability of politicians and public servants!

Dear Hon. Secretary,

We are writing to your organisation about a heritage matter of real urgency.

As you are aware, the Explorers’ Tree at Katoomba is under threat from State government road-development plans. It is not simply that the Tree itself may be further damaged by any removal from its current position, but that the historical relevance of the site generally may be lost via development. This year may be crunch time.

Our party has initiated a defence campaign for the Explorers’ Tree. We shall work in our own way to heighten public awareness of the issue.

However, it is clear that no single group can succeed in rescuing the Explorers’ Tree and its precinct for future generations of Australians. All concerned residents of the Blue Mountains, particularly the members of an organisation such as yours, are needed to fight and win.

We would enquire of you as to whether your have considered a public campaign and whether your members would join with others, or at least work separately, in this worthy cause?

We would request that you place these matters before your members at your earliest convenience.

Immigration 'debate' driven by immigrants

Fairfax journalist in the Sydney Morning Herald on matters economic, Ross Gittins, says this month 'a few facts would be useful in the migration debate'. ['A Few Facts Would Be Useful In The Migration Debate', SMH, 11th December 2010.]

What immigration debate? The one driven by immigrants inviting more of their foreign mates to come and further undo Australia? Traditional Australians have had immigration up to the back teeth!

As soon as Rudd uttered those terminal words 'A Big Australia' his worthy days as PM were numbered.

Gittins has peddled a new publication by the Laboral guvment's 'productivity commission', which as the name suggests is commissioned to drive all things that support 'productivity' - notably more immigrants! It claims to be 'independent' yet is a paid arm of the laboral guvment and states its broad policy guidelines 'improving productivity' and 'promoting development'.

So we may guess as to the recommendations what the productivity commission makes in its recent booklet: 'Population and Immigration: Understanding the Numbers'; which Gittins is promoting with his mass media access. [Read Report]

Notable key points in the report are:

'Since the 1980s, net overseas migration has overtaken natural increase as the major contributor to Australia’s population growth.'
'Migration flows are shaped by the economic and social motivations of migrants and by government policy in Australia.'
'Net overseas migration has grown strongly during the past ten years, with most of the growth being in the ‘temporary’ categories.'

As if it ain't bloody obvious, economic migrants, not refugees, are the main reason why Australian capital cities are so overcrowded. Gittins sees a need to ram this point home given all the corporate media froth and bubble over asylum seekers, since the corporate media remain conspicuously silent on the real social problem - the daily plane loads let in through Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth airports. Corporate media either are addicted to TV footage of boat people, or more sinisterly they want to divert [public attention away from the plane loads.

Gittins highlights that historically Australia's population growth is one of the highest in developed countries, having increased about 1.6% each year, "causing to double to 22.3 million over the past fifty years" mainly from net migration. This net immigration is mainly from economic immigrants including those on ''457'' business visas scabbing Australian jobs with foreign families in tow.

Laboral undisclosed immigration policy has seen net immigration rise 2 % last year bringing in 313,500 more foreigners. - a third of a million of them!

What Gittins and all his economic analysis fails to realise if he actually did some primary research and got out into the maternity hospitals and child care centres is that those immigrants are mainly responsible for the high fertility rate as well.

'The commission doubts whether Peter Costello's baby bonus has had any significant effect on fertility' - assumes Gittins.' Come on! Spotting the Aussie at Westmead, Royal Melbourne, Mater and Perth's King Edward maternity wards has become a rarity. Westmead is full of pregnant curry munchers. Most urban childcare and crèches are full of new Australians born to immigrants. Don't forget though many are New Zealanders flocking here too, so you can't always tell.

Australians didn't vote for immigration; the Laborals imposed it.

Now look at the ethnic hubs - overcrowded Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and their ethnic sprawl, congested roads, trains, buses, and where Aussie kids are now the minority at school and marginalised.

While traditional Australian families are conservatively stopping at the standard two children, efnic families are importing their old country breeding habits. They're the ones picking up their brood from school in brand new people movers and go home to McMansions in their efnic enclaves.

Tar this opinion with a 'racist' brush? Wrong! We shouldn't give a toss where these people come from or what colour their skin is when we are discussing the population question. These are two very different questions, which the liberal-minded refuse to address.
When we see traditional Australian families missing out, priced out of the local housing market, unemployed, on the street...and while Australia's indigenous live in Third World poverty, Australians have had a gut full.

The efnics just take over. Best we look after our own before extending invitations to foreigners - a lesson for all nations.

Explorers' Marked Tree at Risk!

Protect our heritage before it's destroyed...

Australian heritage across the Blue Mountains is at risk. Important history along the Western Highway is fast disappearing as the New South Wales Government continues with its widening of the highway, ploughing through anything in it’s way.

The Explorers' Marked Tree situated right next to the highway just west of Katoomba is at serious risk from this widening.

The famous and familiar Explorers' Marked Tree symbolises the first successful crossing by whites over the Blue Mountains into Australia’s interior in 1813 by explorers Blaxland, Lawson and Wentworth, in which Lawson cut his initials on the tree with a tomahawk [Herald, 26th August 1867]. It was the point of their journey where their trek changed from westerly to northerly.

The tree remains perhaps the oldest surviving tangible link to the triumph of reaching inland Australia. The tree remains the only surviving relic still in situ, unlike the repeatedly realigned highway, and despite the tree being killed, fenced off and surviving attempts even to burn it!

The Explorers' Marked Tree has become a culturally significant landmark to Australians and our history. It is listed on National, State and Local Government heritage registers precisely because of its recognition that it was (and is!) a vital symbol of our national heritage.

This tree monument has to be protected out of respect for past Australians and for the benefit of present and future generations.

In 1915 too, volunteers to the Australian Light Horse gathered there - on their foot march to Sydney.

The ‘Anti-Fascists’ Of ‘Antifa Australia’ Fail To Stop The Sydney Forum: It Is A Serious Political Defeat For Those Who Deny Free Speech

The ‘Antifa Australia’ group has failed to stop the Ninth Sydney Forum held on September 18-19. After threatening to demonstrate against the Forum’s Sunday session and to generally expose and oppose ‘fascism’ (sic) – they simply failed to show.

Or rather, three ‘spies’ did. One was arrested by some police for an offence (weapon? drugs?). Another slunk away with a few snapshots of a small group of police detailed to ‘watch’ the event and the last one took a few photos at a safe distance from the Forum across the busy Princes Highway at Tempe. What startling intelligence did he get? Simply a few pikkies of the Australia First building where the Sunday session was held!

For Antifa, it was a bad knock, a serious miscalculation, a political defeat. Not to make good on their promise to demonstrate even when sympathetic journalists at the ABC or SBS could have given them a camera opportunity, has shown even a lack of enterprise.

On Sunday, when they should have been demonstrating against the Forum to prove whatever anti free speech credentials they have, Antifa opted to hold a ‘rally’ at the Hub Theatre in Newtown, with some forty or fifty persons in attendance. They later tried to occupy Newtown Square with banners and bongos and they threw a few insults at duty police.

There was still the opportunity to march from Newtown to Tempe, but there was no attempt to encourage others to join them, nothing at all. After adjourning from their rally, the Antifa wandered off to a few hotels and others perhaps - to some private homes to enjoy their recreational drugs.

Acting as the ‘fascists’ they would proclaim the Forum to be, they still failed to stifle freedom of speech.

In recent months, Australia First has noted increasingly strident rhetoric from Antifa to deny freedom of speech and assembly to those who they deem to be ‘fascists’. In the past they have damaged property and tried to assault people. They did not confront the Forum. Why?

Last year Antifa demonstrated (with property damage) in inner city Chippendale, protesting against a group they called ‘extreme right’ or ‘fascist’. In July, they joined with others to protest a small group of persons in Newtown who objected to Islamic migration. However, Australia First and Sydney Forum have been reserved for special abuse and occasional violent rhetoric.

Antifa is a group fuelled by anarchists and inner city ‘lifestyle’ dregs (same sex marriage couples, perverts of various sorts, drug abusers, refugee ‘advocates’ and what not). They do not represent the Australian people although they might be considered ‘chic’ in parts of inner-suburbs Sydney. They proclaim themselves arbiters of freedom. Yet, this group does not see (if it cares at all) that its slogans (No borders! ; No nations! Refugee rights!) are the very slogans of the corrupt, globalist, Australian political establishment. Australia First has often decried the ‘rabble above and the rabble below’, that funny working coalition of the rich in expensive suits and the greenhairs in dirty drag, who together share a common globalist perspective - and via the media can mobilise against patriotic Australians. At best, this curious Antifa street gang serves in practise those very elites they criticise elsewhere as the uncaring rich. The irony is absolute and the deception complete. Ultimately, it may be that the Antifa have simply recognized the fact that we cannot be deterred and that it is easier to abuse the long suffering average cop.

The Sydney Forum was a success and reports that have reached us say that the 2011 Forum will be the largest. Next year marks the tenth anniversary of the Forum’s foundation and in fact – its tenth presentation. Freedom of speech and genuine democracy is not dead in Australia. Australia First Party will continue to proudly support the Sydney Forum and we look forward to reading its full report for 2010.

A Very Watery Conspiracy in the Hawkesbury

The Sydney Metropolitan Region Water Plan has it that the farmers’ use of water from the Hawkesbury River will be cut to about 16% of current usage. In theory, the water plan has been set in motion to save the Hawkesbury River.

This plan will kill off over $600 million of farm and related production from the economy of North-West Sydney. It will push farmers off their land and compel Sydney’s needs for many types of vegetables and for chickens and eggs - to be provided via road and rail transport from hundreds of kilometres away.

Australia First Party rejects any idea that the plan has much to do with rescuing the natural heritage of the Hawkesbury.

It is also part of metropolitan planning that some 5,000 new dwellings are slated for the Hawkesbury City area and some 40,000 plus homes for the Penrith City Council area.

It would be frightfully convenient if the farmers went broke and were forced to sell their properties.

Indeed, the Metropolitan Development Plan has already discussed the possibility of ‘relocating’ farms further away in order to release land for housing.

Is this a case of the bureaucrats nodding and winking, like Al Capone to Frank Nitti. Our bureaucrats discuss natural needs while everyone knows that means housing, just as ‘community needs’ to Al and Frank might have meant booze imports.

Let the farmers stay put. By all means let there be sensible regulation of water usage, but let priorities be worked through. The natural ravages brought be creating entirely new farmland and ‘importing’ foods to Sydney more than outweigh destroying the farms of North West Sydney.

This watery conspiracy must be rejected by the voters of North West Sydney. Only two parties might make the promise to resist – ourselves and the Greens. We can be trusted because we will say no to immigration, whilst the Greens lost in the haze of race and refugees and all the rest of it – will stab you in the back.

He said the city would end the ''harsh, family-destroying'' practice of mining companies flying workers in and out to remote areas, which was ''bad for almost everyone concerned, except the shareholders''.

Speaking in Sydney to the Australia-Israel Chamber of Commerce, Mr Howes invoked a 1930s plan for a Jewish state in Western Australia's northern region for his plan.'

Australia First Party candidate for Lindsay, Mick Saunders, along with a member of the State committee of the party, met on the weekend with the candidates of Senate Group C, Messrs Tony Robinson and Noel Selby. They made an electoral agreement of interest to Lindsay voters.

Both Mr. Saunders and Mr. Selby were candidates in the recent Penrith-State-electorate by election on June 19.

Australia First Party agreed to endorse Senate Group C and the group would endorse Mr. Saunders for Lindsay.

Mr. Saunders said:

“Our how to vote card in Lindsay will suggest to voters that, after casting a vote for me as the Australia First Party candidate, they also consider voting for Senate Group C. Whilst we have differences on some issues, we find ourselves in agreement that Australia’s population must stabilise, that immigration be no longer considered a sacred cow and so-called asylum-seekers be turned away. Both sides see the two party system as undemocratic and demand reform. Voting for minor parties and independent candidates is one way to get better representation.”

Mr. Selby, speaking for Senate Group C said:

“Both Tony and myself thank Australia First party for their support. I received some 1100 votes in the Penrith poll. I ask these voters to carry that vote on in the Federal poll on August 21 by supporting Senate Group C in the Senate and Mick Saunders of Australia First Party for Lindsay. Both Tony and myself may not concur with all of the party’s beliefs, but we think Mick is standing up on issues that have to be talked about in the public arena.”

Media Smear Two: Sydney Morning Herald Uses Another ‘Pocket Nazi’ To Invent Cover-Line Against Australia First

The Sydney Morning Herald doesn’t quit. Twisted Tales should get its head around this one.

Today the Herald reported that Australia First Party “goon squad” activists had hijacked the Homeless Sleep-out organized in Brisbane last weekend by Mission Australia. The demonstration took place outside a luxury motel being used to house so-called ‘asylum seekers’, something which rankles the liberal-minded (for the Herald, refugees are ‘good’). The party activists participated and built the demonstration.

Some money was raised and the newspaper suggests it was misappropriated by us. The paper says that “Jane Mengler”, organizer of the protest, said the money would be returned to Mission Australia.

The first ‘truth’ is that Australia First acted properly and no fraud was involved.

That the paper was telling porkies is suggested by its quoting of Jane Mengler.

Problem: the real Jane Mengler lives in Sydney, was the former wife of the NSW Chairman of the Australia First Party, Jim Saleam – and she has a serious complaint against the Sydney Morning Herald pending in the Australian Press Council. She was hardly at the protest in Brisbane and the Australia First Party organizer ‘Jane’ is an entirely different person.

Why the mistake?

This is where we get back to Dirty Tricks. The newspaper has, by suggesting fraudulent conduct by us against Mission Australia, tried to smear Jane Mengler, to discredit her in her challenge to its falsehoods in the Press Council. That is clear and certain.

But was the paper also ‘misinformed’ and did it care?

The real ‘Jane’ appears in voice only on a video available on the Australia First Queensland website; she discusses the homeless protest. The website also contains some articles written by her.

Australia First Party has been informed confidentially that another close associate of Robert Leys, Peter Coleman, listened to the voice on the video. He concluded in some way or other it was Jane Mengler and duly informed (sic) the Herald.

Peter Coleman is another Sydney Morning Herald pocket-Nazi. In 1999, he appeared in the fraudulent KKK-inside-One-Nation story. Last year, he like Mr. Leys, was used by the Sydney Morning Herald as an “anonymous source” to provide slander against the NSW Chairman of our party. He also provided libellous muck against Jane Mengler!!

A large volume of legal and academic material points to Mr. Coleman as a so-called neo-nazi who was an informant for the corrupt ‘Special Branch’ organisation. He was close to the “Nazi party” of David Palmer over a twenty year period. His identity as an informant was covered by a Code - “CC18” - during the New South Wales Police Royal Commission.

The Twisted Tale of Sydney Morning Herald falsehood is one of the real Dirty Tricks of this election campaign.

Australia First Party candidates and officers have received various harassments in recent days in the form of ranting phone calls replete with smear and e-mails containing misleading matter and libel. Dirty Tricks efforts have been constant against the party since the election period began. These latest pinpricks might otherwise have no meaning if it were not for the source.

The current harassments come from a certain Mr. Robert Leys who lives in country New South Wales.

Mr. Leys was recently released from the Banksia Unit at the Tamworth Hospital after being “scheduled” by police under the Mental Health Act. His permanent diagnosis is paranoid schizophrenia. Sometimes the treatments fail.

Mr. Leys has a long term ‘connection’ with the Sydney Morning Herald. In 1999, he appeared as a Ku Klux Klan activist who had supposedly infiltrated the Pauline Hanson party. His claims were – of course – false. But the Herald ran with the story anyway. That story was composed by a certain Greg Roberts who was later censured by the Press Council for factual distortions in another matter in 2008.

Last year, the Sydney Morning Herald used Mr. Leys again. This time he was among a number of anonymous “sources” quoted to produce smear against the NSW Chairman of the party, Dr. Jim Saleam.

Dr. Saleam had received in 2009 particular text messages later shown to be from Mr. Leys.

October 16 10.47 pm “Maybe go the jorno that rekicked my dislike 2 saleam…..

It seems that, triggered by the newspaper, this unfortunate man now harasses Australia First members.

In 1999, Mr. Leys was “scheduled” by police after making an assortment of threats to people in his local community and another one to murder Dr. Saleam’s family. His recent sojourn in the Banksia Unit was likely related to similar threats, up to and including a threat to murder - and a possible attempt to steal explosives from a place in Lightning Ridge.

It may be inevitable that Mr. Leys will be produced by the press again in some capacity to say things against Australia First. In 2009, shortly after the Sydney Morning Herald reported that Australia First Party had the numbers to register as a Federal party, Mr. Leys’s close associate in the 1999 KKK scam against One Nation – David Palmer – surfaced to say that their group was infiltrating Australia First. Mr. Palmer and Mr.Leys also claim to be leaders of Australia’s “Nazi party” and Mr. Leys has been reported to health care professionals by local people and family members to have had a life-long obsession with German Nazi paraphernalia.

'AUSTRALIA'S Asian migrant population has soared in the past decade, with almost a million Chinese, Indians and Vietnamese now calling the nation home. The Asian-born population has risen from 5.3 per cent in 1999 to almost 9 per cent, an Australian Bureau of Statistics report reveals.

'About 81,000 migrants settled in Victoria last year, most in Melbourne.

'Monash University demographer Dr Bob Birrell said the figure, which includes foreign students, was enormous.

"You can see why Melbourne has been growing so rapidly and why there are concerns about congestion and quality of life," he said.

'Dr Birrell said more than half of the nation's 300,000 migrant growth in 2008-09 occurred in Melbourne and Sydney and was mainly driven by Asian settlers.

'The Chinese and Hong Kong-born community has reached more than 430,000, while the number of Indian-born settlers has passed 300,000, the ABS's Migration 2008-09 report said. Only the British and New Zealand migrant groups are bigger.

'The nation's European-born population has fallen from 12.5 per cent to 11 per cent over the past decade.

'About 60 per cent of current migration to Victoria is from Asia, led by Indians, Chinese and Sri Lankans.

'Humanitarian arrivals tend to live in suburbs such as Springvale, Dandenong, Footscray and Sunshine, while skilled migrants are concentrated in areas such as Clayton, Oakleigh and Glen Waverley.

'Dr Birrell said while migration to Australia from Britain and New Zealand was high, Victoria's share of those settlers was low.

"They are in effect bypassing Melbourne and going mainly to Queensland and Western Australia," he said.

'Prime Minister Julia Gillard has called for a population debate, saying she does not support a big Australia.

'But the Government has made no commitment to slash the migrant intake.

'The Coalition has pledged to cap the annual number at 170,000 over the next three years, but Labor says numbers are already falling to those levels.

'The ABS report also revealed that 40 per cent, or 2.2 million Victorians, moved over the past five years.

Threats In Queensland As Campaign Gets Going

Tony Abbott’s Immigration Game Is Wrapped Up In Howard’s Lies

We all remember John Howard’s line about “we decide who comes” into Australia and “how” they come.

Well, Abbott has trotted it out for us again word for word, telling the press a few days ago that this was his policy.

Of course. Howard spun that one during the Tampa refugee ‘children overboard’ affair back in 2001.

It ambushed the hapless Pauline Hanson who was running on border security. Rather than attack the Liberals for (certain) untruthfulness, she blathered on about how Howard was “stealing” her policy. Well, words Howard may have stolen, but after the election he flew the Tampa refugees in!

So much for his hard, tough, line.

Now we have Tony Abbott telling us he intends to “stop the boats” and even that he’ll slash immigration back (back??!!) to 170,000 per year from the current dizzying near 300,000.

Really? Who cares if he did? In point of fact, this number was around the figures of the Howard years, up till then the highest immigration government in Australian history!

The current debate between Julia Gillard and Tony Abbott (as shown in their actual TV debate on July 25) has one saying he will achieve a fall in immigration and the other saying she’s already doing it.

No! Australia First screams it out as sharp as we can that immigration will be out of control regardless of which major party wins the election. And the refugees (as they style themselves) will just keep coming, maybe not on boats but via a processing centre somewhere (wherever!).

We say: it’s time to end both policies, stop them dead in their tracks. That is our unshakeable policy!

Dirty Tricks Leaflet Highlights The Refugee Question In Blacktown (Greenway)

A certain leaflet has appeared in Blacktown which purports to be issued by Australia First. It is critical of African refugee migration, but is written in a silly and inflammatory way and is clearly designed to embarrass the party. Blacktown is at the centre of the Greenway electorate.

This leaflet has appeared in other centres over time as well. It is similar to one which has appeared in locales as diverse as Wagga Wagga and the Sutherland Shire.

The ‘black op’ may have backfired, as various interviews for ABC news, ACP and the BlacktownSun – seemingly testify. Our actual position on refugees or so called ‘asylum seekers’ was put across well by party spokesmen.

The Gillard Palace Coup: What It Tells Us About The (Concealed) Nature Of Australian Politics

The appointment of Julia Gillard as Prime Minister has nothing to do with a government losing its way or bad opinion polls. It was not a cosmetic exercise, but one born in the belly of the system.

Basically, the putting aside of KRudd by the Labor Party shows anyone with an inquiring mind how politics works in Australia. It is about the exercise of power and it shows that power does not reside in parliaments but with the wealthy elite and the foreign states with ‘shares’ in the safe and efficient running of Australia Inc.

The Mining Tax

The multinationals which operate in Australia pay no company tax. Fact. Via the 50 year old dual tax agreement, they pay no direct taxes. Many mining companies here are branches of the multinationals. However, KRudd set out to tax ‘Australian’ mining giants. Call it a blunder or simply a desire to balance his budget, but like the whitless Gough Whitlam who wanted to know what went on inside the American base at Pine Gap, there are some things that Australian prime ministers cannot do and are not permitted to think about.

One section of Australian capital considered that it was being asked to shoulder too much of the burden of upholding their own appointees in government . They rebelled. The billionaire mining oligarchs refused the supertax levy.

So, a government changes and Gillard ‘backs down’ to the oligarchy.

It was almost automatic.

Chinese Imperialism Had A Hand In Government Change?

It is well known that KRudd was - and is - an enthusiast for all things Chinese. The Chinese Vice President was in Canberra just at the time of the palace coup. His concern? Mining contracts. Anything that delays or frustrates the supply of cheap Australian minerals to the Chinese moloch is a threat to the increasing power of China in Australia. Chinese imperialism demands security for its investments as all imperialisms have done in history.

Australia is a resources pawn in a globalised market. Australia is competed over as foreigners stake out their claims and draw out the national wealth. The mining oligarchs, particularly the repulsive Clive Palmer, all kowtow to China which purchases ‘their’ minerals, to their profit. They targeted KRudd. Gillard now looks forward to the continuance of the boom and welcomes the increasing interest of China in Australia

Then, It’s Israel Again

It is publicly known that Julia Gillard’s live in lover Tim Mathieson works in property development and that he is employed by the Ubertas Group. This company is the creature of Albert Dadon, founder of the Australia Israel Forum. It was this Forum that sponsored Gillard to Israel last year where she sang the Zionist line on Middle Eastern politics.

As for KRudd, he had recently committed another ‘mistake’. He had criticized Israel (an entity he really loves as the false ‘Christian’ Zionist he is) over the Gaza blockade and the Israeli state murder of Turkish civilians on vessels serving in a Gaza relief mission. Again, too much public criticism of Israel cannot be tolerated – even from a fair weather toady.

Mr Dadon is close to prominent pro-Israel Labor MP Michael Danby, who was influential in the palace coup that installed Julia Gillard as Prime Minister. The Zionist fraction of Australian Jewry looked to Danby to ensure the Australian state lines up with Israel in its terror against the Palestinians and for its position on Iran. How the Zionist worm turns in Australian politics!

The Gillard government will stay the killing course in Afghanistan. It will support Israel. It will not seek the nuclear disarmament of Israel, but it will threaten war with Iran over a peaceful nuclear energy program.

The Population Issue Explodes

Then KRudd became a little too open in his scheme for a “big Australia” – 36 millions, 50 millions, millions. It was bad to be too free with the truth when the voters get nervous.

So, crash, bang, out goes KRudd and in comes concerned Julia who even appoints a “Sustainable Population” minister to handle immigration.

A neat package. The public is to go back to sleep.

It was almost automatic.

When We Sum It All Up….

When we put it all together Australia has no real independence and Australian politicians are creatures of whomsoever – pays! It is a rich man’s government that bends over to the foreign interest.

That there was a palace coup suggests that Australian politics will become increasingly unstable and dictatorial. We learn where power truly lies.

The Australian people’s movement for national independence must address these issues. Not just the oligarchs of the mining industry, but all the czars of money must be put aside that democracy can grow in Australia!

Bullshit Me Once Shame On You ; Bullshit Me Twice, Shame On Me!

A game is being played. It has been on foot since the emergence of Tony Abbott as ‘Opposition Leader’. The Liberal Party has pretended to be a critic of the “border security” policies of the Labor government and has further argued for a “sustainable immigration program”. Yeah. Yeah. At no point have the Liberals demanded an end with immigration, nor have they said a firm ‘No’ to refugee intakes. And we would have expected nothing less from them. Under John Howard, the Liberals boomed immigration to dizzying numbers. The Liberals know that the ‘end’ of the policy – is to affect a change in Australia’s demographics. The question for the Liberals has been to stymie community fears over such a monstrous thing dispossessing the Australian People in their own country. Will we Australians become a minority in our own country within 50 years? Is the attack upon our national identity (in education, media, politics, cultural institutions) part of this change in our status? When do we become “part of Asia”?

The significant new development is that Labor has joined the Liberals in this game! In words at least, Labor has expressed concerns (sic) at the direction of the immigration program at its size, at the effects on urban infrastructure and so forth.

The Gillard Putsch Signals Fear Of The People.

The new Julia Gillard government has responded to mass voters’ worries stated during a recent State by-election in New South Wales. Liberal and Labor activists reported the mood of the community on immigration and population policy, on border security and refugees - was poisonous to the LABER-AL machine. It could produce maverick behaviour at the polls (not just in outer suburban Sydney either) and in the community – precisely the intention of the Australian people’s party – Australia First!

The Labor government now seeks a “sustainable” population level for Australia and is not necessarily in favour of the “big Australia” that KRudd talked about. Yeah. Yeah.

So now, both sets of liars are immigration critics!

The Sydney Morning Herald editorialised on June 30:

“Julia Gillard’s foray into population policy has a touch of John Howard about it. The former Prime Minister was adept at subtly using the public’s fears of uncontrolled immigration – talking and acting touch about a small number of boat people while simultaneously arranging a large immigration intake. It was an effective tactic to sidestep the xenophobia among sections of his supporters, although many will demur at its cynicism. Gillard, by implying criticism of the Rudd governments supposedly arbitrary population targets of up to 40 million people, and adding the word ‘sustainable’ to the title of Tony Burke’s population portfolio, is playing a similar game? Let us hope a game is all it amounts to.”

Was this a case of honest journalism from an Establishment paper?

We say that it is a ruthless and cynical game. But can LABER-AL pull this off? Gillard gives her new line and Abbott says it’s not hard enough and is just dreamed up policy spin. Why believe Julia? Then vote for Tony – he said it all first. Yeah. Yeah. A double game!

The Sydney Morning Herald does tell us a couple of things. People are worried. People may react. The game is being played. The paper is worried the game might get out of hand. And it can! Fuel Prices Question Raised By Mick Saunders

When Petrol prices started to go up some years ago, an oil company official said that you would be paying one cent per litre at the bowsers for every dollar cost of the barrel of oil. In other words, when oil was one hundred and twenty five dollars US a barrel, we were paying $1.25 per litre at the bowsers.

At that time the Australian dollar was around 76 cents to the American dollar. Our dollar was on last May 18 worth 87.54 cents against the American dollar. The barrel of oil price was at 70.14

(US) so why are we paying so much for petrol and diesel?

Well the federal government won’t stop the oil companies from ripping you off because for every dollar extra that the fuel costs you, the government gets 10 cents. Not much you think, but think that every time you fill your car they are making around $ 4.00 in GST.

Multiply that by the number of cars and trucks than fill up every day and consider that every time a truck fills up they take around 600 litres of fuel ( Diesel ) At a worst case scenario you should only be paying 90 cents per litre for both petrol and diesel and with the Australian dollar being as strong as it is against the American dollar, you should be paying much less .

So you thank the federal government and the oil companies for the fact that you are having a hard time making ends meet . Every time the oil companies put up the price of oil-based products, it cost you. It costs you for food, for medical supplies, for petrol and every other item that is carried on a truck.

So you can thank the government and the oil companies for your money not buying what it used to buy . You can thank them because you really can’t afford that well earned holiday; thank them for the amount of stress you are now facing whilst trying to balance the budget and thank them because you can not afford those little things that you used to be able to buy. And most of all thank them because your wages won’t buy the things that you used to be able to buy before the oil companies and the government got into bed together and ripped you off.

Thanks Mr KRudd. So much for the line that the Labor government was there to look after the workers, not the multi nationals and the oil companies and banks! That’s a job for Australia First!

And what does Australia First ultimately say about fuel?...

We demand a domestic fuel price – an end to ‘world parity pricing'.
We demand the creation of an Australian petroleum industry run as a state corporation.
We demand the urgent development of synthetic oil and other alternate fuels.

With such a policy in place, the price of fuel may be as low as 50 cents a litre!

Homelessness In The Hawkesbury Shire

Reports in the June Independent newspaper in the Hawkesbury Shire also confirm the existence of homelessness in North West Sydney. A lack of emergency accommodation was noted.

The Tony Pettitt campaign has identified homelessness as an issue that the Council should also address. Co-ordination of Council social services, private charities and citizen effort should exist in Hawkesbury to provide temporary shelter and amenities to homeless people.

As home prices soar and rents increase, marginal Australians are pushed beyond their limits.

Ultimately, a nationalist government would nationalize surplus property as an emergency measure and tackle housing shortages with public construction.

Notably, while refugee (sic) parasites are housed in motels and hotels and given assistance by church housing offices, the Australian poor freeze on the streets.

Pseudo Anarchist Threatens Poll Disruption?

A supposed anarchist based in Melbourne has used a website to suggest that there will be a disruption on polling day – something directed against Australia First members.

It was said that a character who calls himself “Kitler” would appear, as he did once before in the Sutherland Shire poll of September 2008, to abuse and restrict the activities of our polling day workers.

The “Kitler” character was chased away by other polling workers in 2008 after appearing at a few booths. He was styled as a parody of Adolf Hitler.

The supposed anarchist who has made the ‘threat’ is one of a number of cyber-world characters who use the name ‘Andy’ to issue libels and to offer analysis of Australian nationalist politics. Much of the rubbish centres on the proposition that any expression of nationalism in Australia in this centuryis related to Nazism. Hence the “Kitler” character.

Readers should note that the original “Kitler” was a household cat dressed to look like the former German dictator. It was an amusing effort. Is a human Kitler the best the disruptors can do?

Outdoor Recreation Party: Not Who They Really Are

The Outdoor Recreation Party (ORP) has a candidate in the Penrith by-election, Mr. David Leyonhjelm. We all remember the ORP as the party that wanted to give four-wheel-drive owners a bit of recognition and a little better access to national parks. Same name. Some of the same members, but rather different ‘ownership’.

In fact, the ORP as a State registered party was taken over by the Federally registered party – the Liberal Democratic Party.

The Liberal Democrats are a greed-is-good party that believes in free trade and opening the borders to massive immigration.

Goods can come in and destroy our industries and jobs. But that’s okay because we’ll all get into banking and mining. With immigrants by the tanker-load we all get the chance to see prices fall as labour gets cheaper – it’s just few of us have a job.

So, if you vote Outdoor Recreation you can expect to have a lot of it in the future. If their views win the day you’ll be living there – in the cold, in a workers shack on a mining site – while one of them drives past in the Four Wheel drive.

The Penrith electorate has its own ‘homeless’ people. The numbers are estimated at some 120 persons.

Homelessness is a growing.

More than 120 homeless people were estimated by an action group to be in Penrith, following a street count of 700 across Penrith, Blue Mountains, Hawkesbury and Blacktown.

Volunteers with the Nepean Campaign Against Homelessness recorded the numbers by visiting parks, hospitals, refuges and other places in the early hours of one morning three weeks ago.

Yet, there are homes provided for refugee parasites. There is plenty of housing bought up by the overseas investors.

In this campaign only one candidate says ‘Australians First!” That’s Mick Saunders.

Religion is unethical. It doesn't teach life's grey uncertainties between right and wrong. It preaches a belief system to perpetuate influence of that belief system made of invented rules and myths, and of course prejudice, politics, cronyism and control.

History riddled with it.

Scripture is brainwashing. How are Ron Hubbard's scientological teachings any less dogmatic than the anglican King James Bible or the Uniting Church's Good News for Modern Man Bible?

What is the purpose of projecting a guiding deity? It is to focus the faith of a religious order on a omnipresent mythical guardian so as to charm, enamour, ensnare, spellbind insecure and vulnerable people? Does it just prey on hope of the vulnerable seeking hope?...to thereafter insist on an absolute pledge of life-long loyalty?

Church is a form of cult, with milder varying degrees of orthodoxy, reliant upon the premise of truisms and a methodology of entrapment. So what has 'church' now meant to mean? Medieval christianity pervades our modern society unquestioningly more than we realise. But it has become increasingly irrelevant to the humanistic needs of modern society, evidenced by the demise of patronage and absence of youth attendance.

Children seek direction in life and that is when they are most vulnerable. If religion was barred from children until they were old enough think independently (say 16), then perhaps religion could lay claim that it is not a form of indoctrination and brainwashing, but it ain't. Religious orders intentionally grab children at an early age, knowing that they have them for life.

This warrants public questioning as is currently occurring and these churches are running scared. Old religious orders need to comply with ethical and moral standards of our 21st Century society, else they deserve labeling as fundamental extremists in the same category as the Afghani Taliban.

It is about time ethics, humanism and freethought were taught in schools by independent qualified experts. Humanism is an approach in study that focuses on human values and concerns. Freethought is about forming opinions on the basis of science, logic, and reason, rather than being blindly influenced by authority, tradition, or any other dogma.

Faith? Spirituality? Personally, give me pantheism any day. But I'd sooner worship a fly crawling up the wall before turning desperately to religion.

Religions are all about one group of people trying to dominate others. It is all about power and wars have been fought over it. It preys on the vulnerable. It starts with children while they are vulnerable and brainwashes them. Catholicism is all about controlling people through guilt. Each religion doesn't recognise the other. Look what happened last month at the Mosque of Cordoba.

Religion has held a monopoly on spirituality for eons. Now that our society is free thinking and free spirited, people are realising that their are spiritual alternatives to religion - ones that are orthodoxy-free and diety-free. And of course the dominant religions are worried of losing their sphere of influence. The Sydney Anglican diocese claims a new controversial trial of secular ethics classes has ''decimated'' protestant scripture classes in the 10 NSW schools where it has been introduced as an alternative for non-religious children, with the classes losing about 47 per cent of enrolled students. (Scripture classes lose half of students to ethics, say Anglicans)

The anglican church is so desperate that it has created a fund-raising website to ''protect SRE'' (special religious education). The website says the values underpinning ''Australia's moral framework.''

Migrant Violence Intolerable

When violence is reported in the Australian mainstream media, rarely is ethnicity mentioned, due to a self-policing media code of conduct that is premised on claims the reporting of ethnicity risks inciting racism. The Australian Journalists Association code of conduct on this reads:

"2. Do not place unnecessary emphasis on personal characteristics, including race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, age, sexual orientation, family relationships, religious belief, or physical or intellectual disability."

This seems sensible in order to prevent prejudiced reporting and inciting racism. However, this code has been recently abandoned by the mainstream media in the cases of recent violence against Indian students, probably in an attempt to highlight the particular racial problem. But indeed, the media highlighting of this problem has snowballed into an international political hot potato, resulting in Australia's Prime Minister flying to India and consequential increased policing in Melbourne and funding to deal with the problem. As a result, there has been a notable reduction in reported violence against Indian students in Melbourne. Politicians were embarrased into dealing with the problem, that the Department of Immigration had left to fester.

But otherwise reporting of ethnicity and race is suppressed. Read any report in an Australian newspaper about a violent incident and find mention of ethnicity or race obvious by omission. This is not to say that most violence in Australia has ethnic causes, but there is a lot that is yet remains suppressed from the mainstream public. the frequency of the problem is of course known to police and to the locals that live in what have become 'psuedo' ethnic ghettos.

And so Australia's problem of ethnic tension is suppressed and allowed to fester until someone dies. The death last night of a man at Mirrabooka in Perth's inner north is a case in point.

The news item in The Australian Newspaper today reads:

One man dead, one critical after Perth brawl and the article is quite brief:
"ONE man is dead and another is in a critical condition after a street brawl in Perth.
About 10pm (WST) yesterday police were called to Mirrabooka in the city's north where about 20 young men were fighting in the street with sticks and other weapons. They found two men seriously injured at the scene, a police spokesman said. One man later died and the other remains in a critical condition in hospital.
The area has been cordoned off and a crime scene established."

What the newspaper does not report is the fact that it was a fight between recent migrants from war torn countries. A Sudanese man was stabbed to death during a brawl between ethnic groups. Police and the Tactical Reponse Group later raided a house in nearby suburb of Ballajura and arrested five men, believed to be from Afghanistan."

Mirrabooka is a low socio-economic suburb in Perth's north. It has long had an high Aboriginal population, but recently many east African migrants, mainly from Somalia, Sudan and more recently Afghanistan have settled there. Why, is a matter for social research.

Gangs of white and Asian youths also exist in Perth but these gangs tend to fight among them self and generally avoid effecting wider society. Aboriginal people in particular have many social problems that are generally no fault of their own but rather caused by the society and groups of people that they are forced to live around. Most of these problems with aboriginal and African gangs are a direct result of government mismanagement of the needs of these people and aboriginal and african people see public transport as just another government body and so it's natural that they would vent some of their frustration out in these areas.

Seeing as one of my recent edits was edited out, can we discuss race/safety issues a little bit here to get some sort of agreement?

Someone keeps putting in a section saying visitors should avoid areas like WSBS and Mirrabooka where "African" and Aboriginal people are fighting turf warfare, or some such argument. Me, I've never seen or heard of this problem anywhere - not read about it nor experienced it personally. So I deleted it and recommend it stays that way.

On the other hand, I have personally experienced problems with Aboriginal people demanding money and cigarettes. I have got out of various scrapes in various places with by just stopping and having a chat, but this never seems to work here. A number of my acquaintances have had similar experiences, so I do strongly recommend avoiding contact with Aboriginal people on the street, unless you have appropriate cultural knowledge. (I don't really want to get into an argument about why this is the case, because there are clearly very big problems that I don't have answers to)."

In sentencing, Justice McKechnie said Hassan's carjacking crimes indicated a disturbing pattern of criminality "largely alien to our society".

Then in August 2005, Hassan again faced a Supreme Court trial over another violent carjacking. The victim, a young student feared she was going to die after the car she was driving was hijacked by Hassan and another Somali.

Somali refugee Dhaqane Alim, 19, pleaded guilty in the Supreme Court of Western Australia on 6 February 2004 to charge of armed robbery with violence in company. The court was told that on 20 May 2003 Alim and two co-offenders followed the victim from the Burswood train station before mugging him. Alim's co-offender, Jye Horton, who also faces an armed robbery charge, threatened the victim with a 15 cm knife while Alim grabbed the man's arms and rifled through his pockets, stealing a mobile phone and a wallet. The court was also told that Alim was a member of the African Kings street gang.

On 22 March 2004 five men were taken to hospital after a violent clash between Somali and Aboriginal groups armed with knives and clubs in Perth's Northbridge area. One Aboriginal man received seven stab wounds and a suspected punctured lung after being attacked by a group of Somali men."

Police were called to break up a violent brawl between a large number of Africans and Aboriginals in the Perth suburb of Mirrabooka on 27 December 2005. Police Commissioner O'Callaghan said police were called out 14 times in the last 12 months to similar brawls between Africans and Aboriginals."

Immigration does not stop at the international arrival gate. Australia's policy of immigration needs to extend well into assimilation after many years and subsequent generations, else we will see more ghettos like Mirrabooka, and more ethnic tension and violence, fuelled by a policy of media news suppression.

Why is it that Australia's unemployed in March 2010 just gone number 611,000, while thousands of unskilled jobs are being filled by new immigrants?

Walk around the centres of Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney and get into a taxi and find invariably a new migrant at the wheel, born overseas, whose first language is not English, who has had to learn the city streets after driving the taxi. Meanwhile how many of our unemployed, Australian born living in cities, who grew up in the city and could drive a taxi if the opportrunity presented? Why does not Centrelink link up with the taxi industry and put priority on Australia's unemployed, before the jobs go to foreigners? When tourist want to get directions from a taxi driver in a city, someone who is born in the city will have more local knowledge than someone who has not.

Same goes for unskilled and semi-skilled government workers such as those employed by the railways, selling tickets, directing passengers, as guards, as linesmen. Why are these jobs dominated 100% by new migrants?

Is it because Federal and State governments in Australia have prejudiced rules to employ migrants first, because if they don't, they can be branded as discrminatory. That Australian-borns and Indigenous Australians are poorly represented in government unskilled and semi-skilled jobs is REVERSE DISCRIMINATION.

In NSW, government policy requires people who work for the NSW Government need to adhere to its principle of

Cultural Diversity, celebrating not Australian values, but different linguistic, religious, racial and ethnic backgrounds under the Principles of Multiculturalism Act 2000. Such diversity recognises linguistic and cultural assets as a 'valuable resource'.

English language, assimilation and cultural fit is out the door.

Employmers, vocational training institutions like TAFE and Centrelink seem to be poles apart not talking to each other. Australians can't find work, yet employers can't find workers. Liberal and Labor simpletons just take the easy quick fix solution - more migrants!.

Catholic Liberal Opposition Leader Tony Abbott's latest kneejerk solution is to ban Australia's unemployed under the age of 30 access to welfare. Abbots wants under-30s to leave the community they grew up in and relocate to areas where employers need unskilled labour. Forget that the migrants have taken the local unskilled jobs.

This is the same industry sector that failed to train its workforce before the last resources boom and so had to go offshore for more migrants. Criticism over Abbott's kneejerk solution by Australian Workers Union national secretary Paul Howes, is justified. “If (Abbott) genuinely thinks you are going to solve an economically crippling skills shortage by taking punitive measures against welfare recipients, he has clearly never lived in the real world,” Mr Howes said. “You can't just get any old Joe off the street and plonk them into a mine, and think that's going to mean they can work.”

The skills shortage in WA's resources sector is a direct result of short term profit taking by the mining companies failing to re-invest in skilling. It is a failure by both the companies and the WA and Queensland governments to adequately skills train between the resources booms.

Migration needs to be tied to Australia's carrying capacity. Part of that capacity is utilising our home grown unemployed first. I wager that of our current 611,000 unemployed, 300,000 could take on unskilled jobs while they seek the sought of work they want. That would be 300,000 less people on welfare, 300,000 less migrants, 300,000 more Australian happily contributing to the economy and to Australian society and 300,000 families of one sort or another not under stress. Consequential Australian social problems of homelessness, family breakdown, decline in physical and mental health, substance abuse, etc. would be in part addressed.

Migrants coming to Australia taking Australian jobs are at the same time abandoning their countries of origin and depriving their home countries of a workforce.

The Lowy Institute for International Policy board comprises four Lowy family members who own, control and develop Westfield shopping centres globally and the remainder as you point out represent finance, economists, banking, and real estate interests.

The Lowy platform is not clear on its website, but seems mainly geared to influencing the Australian government on international policy – economic, political and strategic and I guess this includes immigration. A quick scan of articles is that it seems to be telling Australian prime ministers what to do and aht to focus on. May be it is Frank Lowy's mouthpiece after he reads daily and international news affecting his business and personal interests.

Opinion polls conducted by any of these lobby groups would be clearly biased.

As a start, I would look at Roy Morgan Research which is certified to both AS/NZS ISO 9001 and to the new ISO 20252 International Market, Opinion and Social Research standard (NCSI Registration No. 6669).

This new standard is specific to the market research industry and covers all stages of a research study, including proposals, questionnaire design, field, data analysis and final presentation of results to clients.

Unless governments want to hear what they want to hear, rather than reality they would choose lobbyist data over certified market research data.

BIGGER ELECTRICITY BILLS

Today, Origin Energy chief executive, Grant King, warned the Committee for the Economic Development of Australia in Sydney that Electricity prices across Australia were likely to triple over the next 10 years.
He blamed the combination of the federal government's mandatory renewable-energy targets, energy policy uncertainty, higher electricity transmission and distribution costs, and higher fuel costs would drive the increase.

King attributed the rise in electricity demand to booming sales in energy-inefficient flat-screen televisions and air-conditioners. ['Energy prices to triple', The Australian April 14, 2010] This is clearly a consequence of new housing development driven by population growth laregley fueld by record immigration. And the growth lobby like the Urban Taskforce are lapping up the new cash!

Last month, that dodgy NSW Government euphemism 'The Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART)' approved electricity price rises of up to 64% over the next three years, with "those living outside the main cities will bear the brunt of the increases."

'Country Energy, which provides all of rural NSW customers with their electricity, has been allowed to raise its prices by the steepest amount, with an increase of $918 if the scheme is introduced; otherwise, the rise will be $601.

'Overall, Energy Australia customers will see prices rise by a total of 46 per cent, for Integral Energy 60 per cent, and for Country Energy 64 per cent.

Welfare groups have warned that the price rises will force many low-income households into ''energy poverty'', and they will not be able to afford to pay their bills.'

BIGGER WATER RATES

Across Australia, water rates are on the rise as each capital city spends big on desalination plants to cope with their swelling populations.

Last April (2009) it was reported by the Essential Services Commission that Melbourne households faced water price hikes of up to 84% over five years. The key drivers were claimed to be the global economy (standard excuse) as well as government not keeping water infrastructure up to demand and so deferring infrastructure works for years. Just two days ago, (12th April 2010), with Melbourne's extravagant new desal plant blowing out to cost a whopping $5.7 billion, Melbourne's water prices will further escalate to pay the bill and because of the extravagant dependency of desalination for electricity, which is also going up in price.

'Over the past five years the price of electricity has increased 13 per cent a year in Victoria - and in NSW prices have risen 28 per cent a year in each of the past two years.'

Economists warned there could be at least one more rate rise before the end of the year.

It was confirmed just last November that Australians "are paying the fastest-rising food prices of any major developed nation. The cost of feeding a family has shot up more than 40 per cent this decade, new OECD figures reveal.

Experts say the explanation for our pricey produce and soaring staples is not drought, currency movements or transport costs. University of NSW associate professor Frank Zumbo said comparing costs over 10 years eliminated such variables and exposed our "cosy" supermarket duopoly as the main reason.

BIGGER MEAT PRICES

Wholesale butcher Kevin Masterton says the days of expensive cuts at cheap prices are over for Australian meat lovers. He's predicted Australian meat prices will never be the same again.

"Everyone is predicting Lamb will be the first Australian meat that is unaffordable. Some of the predictions I've seen is that lamb racks and cutlets will be one hundred dollars a kilo by the middle of this decade," Kevin said.

And it's all because we've been spoiled for choice. The drought has forced farmers' hands - they've had to off-load cattle to stay afloat. "They see that they are going to make more money on the cattle so they hold onto them for longer. There is also quite a bit of export, the economy has started to turn so there is less cattle in the market," Kevin said.

And it's a similar story when it comes to lamb. There's been a nine per cent jump in retail sales and a 10 per cent rise in national expenditure on the meat.

And this year the nation's sheep flock is forecast to hit its lowest point since 1905. "And we have got massive exports to the middle east, so if you take those factors into account they've had a pretty detrimental impact on the stock," Kevin said.

"Lamb has probably had the most spectacular increase - we are probably talking four to five dollars a kilo for the lamb cuts."

So there is not enough capacity in our meat livestock industry to cope with demand, hence meat prices are going up.

BIGGER PETROL COSTS

"Crude oil prices have surged to 18-month highs on the weekend and have swept petrol prices higher.
Oil prices could go to $US95 a barrel, warns analysts. Domestically, a litre of unleaded petrol costs $1.29, up 0.3 cents.

'Oil, which has been trading at between $US75 and $US85 a barrel for months, now appears to be in a new range that could go up to $95, according to oil trader and analyst Stephen Schork.'

Auto deportation of immigrants convicted of serious crimes

Senior Constable McEnally
In 2002, Senior Constable McEnally, 26, was shot at Hillsdale in Sydney's east after pursuing four men in a stolen car with four loaded stolen guns. The stolen car was driven riven by Motekiai Taufahema, then 25. The car crashed and Sione Penisini shot Senior Constable McEnallay four times through the windscreen. Penisini had fired five times at Constable McEnallay from 10 metres away. McEnallay died in hospital from head and chest wounds soon afterwards.

Sione Penisini, was sentenced to 36 years for the murder. The judge at the time described the murder as "a cowardly, senseless and unnecessary crime". Motekiai Taufahema, and his brother John, who was also in the stolen car together with two other men with four loaded stolen guns, were initially convicted of murder, but their convictions were overturned and they both pleaded guilty to manslaughter. They received the same sentence. The fourth man, Meli Lagi, is serving 10 years for firearms offences.’ All four men are Tongan nationals with criminal records.

Motekiai Taufahema's visa was cancelled in August last year and he was to be deported to Tonga once he completed his sentence, but he successfully appealed against the ruling. This month (April 2010) the Criminal Court of Appeal in the Federal Court has now upheld that decision, which means Motekiai Taufahema to stay in Australia.

Immigration Minister Chris Evans says he is considering another appeal and looking at what other action he can take under the Migration Act. "I have sought advice from my department to urgently determine whether there are any appeal prospects," Immigration and Citizenship Minister Chris Evans said in a statement.

"If matters for appeal are identified, I will appeal this decision to the Full Federal Court. If no appeal prospects are identified, then I will fully consider all options available to me under the Migration Act..."

"The manslaughter of a police officer in the line of duty is a most serious offence."

Senior Constable McEnally's father, after the initial sentencing had said, "They're a bunch of grubs," Mr McEnally said. "They took my son's life and they deserve life and I'm not happy with anything less." The dead policeman's fiancee, Amanda Mahon, said there should be a mandatory life sentence for anyone who killed a police officer.

"We loan our men and women out . . . to protect the Australian community and the only thing we ask for in return is if something happens to them then the repercussions be severe."

All four men are immigrants to Australia from Tonga. They have each been convicted of serious crimes in Australia, including the most serious of crimes - the murder of a police officer in the line of duty.

These men have demonstrated contempt for Australian values and laws. There is no reason why he should remain in Australia.

Australian laws need to be immediately changed to automatically deport back to their originating country any immigrant found guilty of a serious crime (indictable offence) in Australia. Then judges won't have an option to allow foreign criminals remain in Australia.

It is obscene and unjust that Australians should be forced to tolerate people from overseas who become serious criminals in Australia.

Bilateral Prisoner Swap

We should go further. Our gaols should not have to wear the cost burden of foreign criminals. Australia should establish bilateral agreements with all overseas countries that foreigners convicted of serious crimes get automatically deported to the origin to serve their sentence. Conversely, Australians overseas convicted of serious crimes are automatically deported back to Australia to serve their sentences. Quid pro quo.

This would mean Sione Penisini, Motekiai Taufahema, John Taufahema, and Meli Lagi get automatically deported to Tonga immediately to serve there respective gaol terms there and be permanently barred entry from Australia.

Importantly, it would also mean that Australians in foreign gaols such as Schappell Corby in Indonesia, Jock Palfreeman in Bulgaria, Stern Hu in China, the Bali Nine in Indonesia [Andrew Chan, Si Yi Chen, Michael Czugaj, Renae Lawrence, Tach Duc Thanh Nguyen, Matthew Norman, Scott Rush, Martin Stephens and Myuran Sukumaran] if convicted, and other Australians gaoled overseas be immediately sent back to Australia to serve their respective sentences here.

West Australian, Holly Deane-Johns, convicted of heroine trafficking in Thailand in 2000 was sentenced to 31 years gaol, but subsequently transferred to Bandyup Women's Prison in Australia in late 2007, escaping the death sentence.

Distinguishing 'growth' from 'excess'

So when is Australia's society to be blessed with moral wealth? The promise of 'economic growth' is like Lasseter's gold? Who benefits from 'getting ahead'?

Are we experiencing the undoing of the recently aspired goal of the Triple Bottom Line to a withdrawal back to human primitive desperate survival instinct of 'self'?

Ruddism/Abbotism is all about spinning to perpetuate the self of those privileged, oblivious to most Australians right to a fair share and a safety net. LibLab are equally morally deprived to leave charities to pick up the can; to be sure they are seen to be seen casting a few coins to these charities before the cameras.

Boom and bust economic cycles are after hundreds of years still out of control. Business is allowed to cast its workers quickly to the scrap heap with no moral duty of care. Banks are allowed to set their own rules.

Economic dogma has delivered a chronic social plague just to enrich a few corporates. This is corporate aristocracy. Those that are not its victim like our aristocratic gated community we call 'Government' peddle its ideal ignoring growing shameful social costs and deprivations.

Celebrating the Top 500 Rich List by BRW Magazine every year is a snub to those that got them there.

Australia has fulfilled a class culture reminiscent of industrial England that it originally sought to distance itself from.

Swan’s growth fettish belies the Lib/Labs stale ideology

Today Federal Treasurer, Wayne Swan, has tried to justify another rise in interest rates by claiming in true polly-speak that such an impost is a sign of stronger Australian economy. Swan sees progress only through economic glasses. Swan’s growth fettish belies the Lib/Labs stale ideology. Last month Swan's fettish for strong economic growth and strong population growth for Australia was reaffirmed at the Population Summit in Brisbane held 30th March 2010.

But Swan's growth fettish and consequential rising costs of living do not augur well for most Australians with mortgages.

Swan on the issue of Australia’s current record population growth claims:

“a population cap would compound, not solve, the growth challenges Australia faces.”

“Capping growth over the next 40 years at 0.8 per cent instead of the 1.2 per cent projected would wipe 17 per cent off the nation's gross domestic product by 2050.”

“Restricting population growth in fast-growing southeast Queensland would result in regional product on a per capita basis dropping by 5 per cent.”

“Australia faced a steep decline in workforce participation due to ageing, which would hit growth and government revenue while dramatically pushing up health spending. Boosting productivity would be critical in coping with the ageing trend.”

Swan premised that economic and population growth can only be good for Australia and the task is for Australia to learn how to "grow smarter".

But Swan only sees the economic data yet has no broader social plan. Swan promises to protect national living standards and environmental sustainability, without saying how he can do this.

This is on the back of Prime Minister Rudd infamous statement last October:

"I actually believe in a big Australia I make no apology for that. I actually think it's good news that our population is growing."

Yet with uttering that dire portent, Rudd has cast the fear of the end of Australia as we know it - of hoards arriving and choking our lifestyle. And neither Rudd nor Swan offers any plans for coping with this enlarged population – no plans for sustainability, infrastructure and maintaining the Australian quality of life. Both are blinkered to the narrow economic interpretations and have lost sight of the social and environmental consequences of high population growth. Rudd’s response on the run is:

"That is why we're taking a leading position on climate change but also the long-term sustainability of the Murray-Darling and the proper provision of water supplies for the future. "This Government is building for the future - we call it nation-building for the future.”

What crap. Some future. Interests rates have just gone up again and are set to continue only exacerbating house unaffordability, the cost of living and degrading Australian living standards. Australian cities have run out of potable water, so billions in taxes are going into desalination plants. Utility charges are going up. Energy Australia is set to raise electricity prices by 60% over the next three years in order to fund Sydney’s massive electricity infrastructure to catch up with the growing urban sprawl. Roads are congested in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney. Public transport is old and overloaded.

Swan's and Rudd’s Hong Kong vision for Australia does a not sit well with most Australians. Neither Labor or Liberal have no mandate to impose a growth fettish on Australians. Most Australians already feel that our environment can not cope with a larger population. Treasury’s projection of a population of 35 million by 2050 is obscene.

Back in October 2009, even Federal Treasury head Ken Henry expressed concern that Australia would not be able to sustain a predicted 60 per cent growth in population over the next four decades.

Prosperity is not aggregate GDP figures. It is maintaining and improving the quality of life and standard of living per capita. Swan being a numbers man hasn’t worked out how to measure that so he ignores it. Rudd’s Labor Government has run out of ideas and ideology relevant to Australians.

Rudd’s initiating the role of Minister for Population this month doesn’t change his 'Big Australia' vision, but just wastes more taxpayer money to find a way to justify and spread the 35 million. hardly a priority, population features in Mr Burke's mixed bucked portfolio of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry. his only mandate is to deliver some population strategy in 12 months, after the election. Clearly, this is purely electioneering appeasement to disaffected Labor voters. Rudd has responded tokenly to Greens leader, Senator Bob Brown’s proposal for a Senate inquiry into Australia's population. Rudd's population minister appointment effectively hijacks what ought to be an independent review process.

And NSW Labor puppet, Premier Keneally expectedly tows the Labor line: ''I believe Sydney can grow and can grow sustainably, economically and environmentally...Cities can either grow or they can shrink. Shrinking is not an option for Sydney.'' While NSW Liberal planning spokesman, Brad Hazzard, ducked the migration issue saying it was being discussed in the community as Sydney became more crowded.

The Liberal-National Coalition are little different in their ideological response. They listen to Howard’s old Productivity Commission which strangely enough advocates for more productivity and with that more population. The Opposition wants an independent specialist body to inquire into future policies dealing with Australia's population growth – just like the Productivity Commission. Otherwise these listen to self-serving growth fettish extremists the Urban Taskforce.

Not surprisingly, Urban Taskforce chief executive Aaron Gadiel argues for no cap on immigration and says:

"One of the reasons that we don't have the infrastructure that we all want and expect is that in many cases our population in our urban centres is just not large enough," he said. "The larger the population, the more the Government is getting the tax revenue in and has the labour force available to build up the infrastructure."

More people, more urban development, more profits for Urban Taskforce members.

Swan argues that countering pressures of immigration can be addressed by Rudd Labor Government’s education revolution, health reform, welfare reform and the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme. How so? Population fueled mainly by immigration drives pressures on water scarcity, urban planning and infrastructure. Population growth is pushing up interest rates, making housing even more unaffordable for Australians. Swan makes no mention of addressing the direct cost of immigration – employment opportunities, housing affordability, cost of living, congestion, inadequate hospital beds, inadequate child care places, utility costs up – electricity set to rise by 60 % in NSW.

"We're determined to make sure that this government and subsequent governments stay dedicated to that task...if it doesn't, we'll all be poorer and we won't necessarily be socially cohesive or environmentally sustainable."

What a vague uncommitted statement!

Australia's Big Picture

According to former NSW Premier Bob Carr, I think we've got to recognise that our cities don't get better economically or in terms of liveability if we force feed population growth into them with this surging level of immigration, that when it comes to skills shortages for example, any new trades person brought into this country to fill a skills shortage also brings dependants. Nor does high immigration solve the problem of an aging population We've got to look at nurturing workers to stay in the workforce longer.

Australian businesman, Dick Smith, says Australia should cut population by slashing immigration and encouraging women to have only two babies. Mr Smith said Australia did not have enough water or food to support millions more people. It was crazy that seawater was being desalinated for drinking water to supply a booming population. "I feel they're going to spend most of their time working out how we can cope with 36 million, rather than looking at whether we really want 36 million."

But currently the facts are that Australia’s population growth rate (September 2009) according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics is 2.1%. The preliminary estimated resident population (ERP) of Australia at 30 September 2009 was 22,066,000 persons. This was an increase of 451,900 persons (2.1%) since 30 September 2008 and 110,400 persons since 30 June 2009.

Compounding at 2.1%, Australia’s population will not be 35 million by 2050, but 35 million by 2030, less than a generation away. [Refer table below]

That is, the Rudd-Swan trend for Australia is for another 12,791,000 by 2030!

Lib/Lab politics have run out of ideology relevant for Australia in the 21st Century. Both are stagnated in 20th Century ideals of economic rationalism, economic growth and globalisation. Neither have workable long term answers to Australia’s entrenched triple bottom line (TBL) dilemmas.

Three simple and effective decisions to stem Australia’s population blowout and give Australia room to explore capacity ready options are:

1. End the Baby Bonus

2. End the Subclass 457 – Business (Long Stay) Visa Scheme

3. Restrict all work visas to Employer Nomination Scheme Occupation List (ENSOL), which requires each applicant to be nominated by an Australian employer to fill a position in an occupation that appears in the ENSOL and for the applicant to demonstrate that they have the necessary skills (including conversational English skills).

But, if economic growth and population growth are causing unacceptable social costs, then what is the alternative?

Clive Hamilton in his 2003 book ‘Growth Fettish’ argues that ur politicans and media are smitten with growth and have an obsession with economic growth (growth fetishism) and the marketing society lie at the heart of our social ills. For decades our political leaders and opinion makers have touted higher incomes as the way to a better future. Economic growth means better lives for us all.

Hamilton points out that 'despite many years of sustained economic growth and increased personal incomes Australia has large social divisions and we don’t seem to be any happier. Economic growth and the marketing society have corrupted our social priorities and political structures, and have created a profound sense of alienation among young and old. lies at the heart of our current political, social and environmental ills - and offers a thought-provoking alternative.’

Waves of multiculturalism burying indigenous into memory

The repeated policy of waves of immigration to Australia, from transportation to free settlement, to gold fever, to industrial boom, to soldier settlement, to 'populate or perish', to refugees, to multiculturalism, have us a melting pot of cultures, like a mini-world.

I still receive my old school magazine annually. It's now 'spot the white'. Never did we have even an Aborigine - attend and as far as I know none since. Never was a scholarship offered by the school to an Aboriginal student. Never was there an attempt to teach all us white students back in the 1970s about Australia's traditional cultures. Now they're reducing the time allocated to teaching Australian history at secondary schools! So much time is spent on teaching foreign languages instead.

'Making history in the classroom'

Education now favours business. Social policy now favours the immigrant. Both still disenfranchise the Aborigines. The white mob supposedly can look after themselves - or so the economic policy assumes. What the policy doesn't measure is society. It doesn't want to expose the human cost on local culture - unemployment, families forced to move away from traditional roots because of unaffordable housing etc. It doesn't measure local displacement, depression, substance abuse, marginalisation, imprisonment or suicide.

As the numbers keep coming, the demographics change, housing demand rises, the voting patterns change, the politicians change.

Globalisation, free trade, mass immigration are diluting Australia's culture. Who are we now, us Australians, but a mixed immigrant mob? We are told we are international citizens.

All this happens while Australia's Aborigines and our sixth generation ‘immigrants’ (our true native born Europeans) are buried under each successive layer of immigrant crying out for special treatment and funding.

This is not a comment on race or a person's origin. It is a comment on the rights of a people to their birthplace. Such a right should not be lost and sacrificed for any perceived benefit a newcomer may promise.

This is a call for heritage and birth rights to stand up against PM Rudd's newcomer takeover policy and his warped Hong Kong vision for a 'Big' congested foreign Australia! Rudd must realise that he is on the cusp of inciting home grown vigilantes against such an affront on Australian values and way of life.

No Australian aspires to live a congested shoebox life of Hong Kong.

Rudd with his aristocratic pension and privileged superannuation beckoning to him must be convinced he is above shoe box living - 'let them eat cake'

What the Eora Aborigines saw coming to the shores in 1788 can perhaps be appreciated by those colonial descendents now seeing their own homes and way of life disappearing around them. I can imagine their sense of terror seeing the (new) sailing ships invading. A true identity emerged in Australia from the days of the colonies. It is slated for destruction.

Rudd's 'Big Australia' policy is socially degrading for Australia.

The LibLab dominant political machine remains 20th Century baby-boomer-blinkered to the short term economic data so as to drive their policies. They seem to know no better. They represent Neanderthal thinking in our 21st Century world, which demands humane and triple bottom line ecologically sustainable imperatives to survive.

My train was full tonight so I sat on the platform bench and wrote this prose.

My nightly train journey home was once a joy
It was express, fast and comfortable
Every night the regular chaps
The paper tucked under their arm, colleagues joking
We all recognised each other, not by name so much
More familiar nod or hello
And we all had our usual seats

The seats used to be numbered in fact
An old timer once told me you could book a numbered seat
It was the country train then
And the nightly train journey was a joy

But then someone heralded 'multiculturalism'
Whitlam and Fraser opened the flood gates
Millions from all walks of life arrived in my lucky country
Prices went up, houses went up, costs went up
The city grew and grew and grew
New languages, new cultures, new babies, all welcomed with open arms
And we were tolerant and accepting
But they kept coming and coming
Jamming the city

And now my train is full of ethnics
Strangers from foreign lands
They come from crowded countries
They take the seats first
They’re used to jostling in crowds
My slow swagger is no match

I arrive at the station at the usual time
With ten minutes to spare to get my seat
My train is there. It starts from there
A familiar friend

With case in hand I step aboard
Lots of dark shiny-haired folk
Strange languages spoken amongst themselves
Not a familiar face in sight, not like the old days
And there's none seat left
These folk are sitting in the aisles like back home
Next carriage is just as full
And there's no seats left

My journey of two hours is too far to stand
So I withdraw from the carriage
I withdraw from my journey home
I withdraw. I can’t change this

I wait on the platform
I take a seat to wait for the next train
Another half hour added to my journey
I watch my train leave with out me, crowded to the gunwales

The foreigners we let in have taken over my train
They got their seats first, I came later
But I was here first, they came later
This is my country, my birth place, my ancestors’ home
Doesn’t seem right
What's the gov'ment done?

I board the next train
I get a seat
T'is late and I'm tired
My train fills with ethnics
My train now stops to pick up more
It's cramped and slow
And there's no seats left

It’s no longer express
It’s no longer familiar
No longer the joy

I see the changes in the streets and shops
I can’t read the signs
I see the changes at work
My work is full of ethnics
And I’ll front to work one day to find

They push and insist with their new rights
But they have more rights
If I speak out, they cry ‘discrimination’
What about us locals, displaced in our own home?

This feels like intrusion, dare I say invasion
No one asked me if their millions could take over
I didn’t see the signs

Australian Heritage under threat from Labor’s RTA: Defend The Explorers’ Tree!

Explorers Tree: A brief history

In May 1813, thirty five years after British colonisation began at Botany Bay, Australia’s famous explorers, Blaxland, Wentworth and Lawson achieved the first successful crossing of the Blue Mountains, which had been considered an impenetrable barrier to the Australian interior.

Governor Macquarie at the time praised the three explorers for their enterprising and arduous exertions on their tour of discovery and rewarded them with four hundred hectares of land beyond the mountains. [Foster, Duffy, 1997:42].

The only surviving relic in situ directly connected to that historic expedition is the Explorers Tree, just west of Katoomba on the Great Western Highway. The legend surrounding the tree is that William Lawson cut his initials into it with a tomahawk in 1813. [Sydney Morning Herald, 26th August 1867].

In 1884, a wall was erected around the tree. This wall is still extant and includes a more recent plaque stating that “this wall and fence was erected by the Minister for Lands (the Hon J S Farnell) in 1884 to preserve this tree which was marked by the explorers Gregory Blaxland, William Lawson and William Charles Wentworth”. The wall also identified and separated the tree from all other unvenerated trees elsewhere on the hillside. Regrettably, instead of preserving the tree, the wall eventually killed it. The Tree has been subsequently preserved with wood preservative ‘anakanem’ in order to slow its physical deterioration.

Explorers Tree: its heritage significance to Australians

The Explorers’ Tree has become an historic iconic monument and memorial to the first successful crossing of the Blue Mountains by Australia’s early colonial pioneers.

For many, this tree stands as one of the few surviving, tangible, links to the early period of Blue Mountains exploration and, in particular, to the first major triumph of European land exploration in Australia.

In the years following its 'discovery', descriptions of the tree and what precisely was carved into its bark varied enormously (from a single L to the complete initials of all three explorers) and there was some intense debate on the subject of its validity (e.g. in the letter columns of the Sydney Morning Herald in 1905).

Despite this, amid the swelling patriotism and historical reflection surrounding Australia's celebration of its Centenary in 1888 and the subsequent march towards Federation and nationhood, the Explorers' Tree provided a local focus. “The long centuries”, one traveller observed in 1893, will “cast a halo over the place” just as they have done to important historical sites in Britain.

By the first decade of the 20th Century, the tree had become a widely venerated relic and a symbolic link with the past The Explorers’ Tree is a ‘memorial' or monument to these three explorers. It serves to preserve the memory of this significant event in Australian history and over the years, many formal commemorations of this first crossing of the Blue Mountains have been performed at the Explorers’ Tree.

Identification of the Explorers’ Tree as a “monument” is consistent under the definition adopted by The International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) in its Venice Charter.

This tree in its rural setting embraces this historic event. This first successful crossing Blue Mountains was a “significant activity” in the early “colonial settlement periods of Australia’s history”. The Explorers’ Tree holds outstanding historic heritage value to the nation, that is, to the Australian community as a whole.

The Explorers’ Tree has achieved the status of a national symbol and as such it has been listed on the Register of the National Estate (Item #2995) at 386 Great Western Hwy, Katoomba. It satisfies the registration criterion for being an item of a significant heritage value as it has importance and rare tangible relic of Australia’s colonial cultural history.

Regardless of its historical authenticity, the tree has been viewed by visitors to the mountains since the 1870s as a memorial to the early explorers and, as such, the tree has been imbued with a strong symbolic value in the popular mind. Its National Estate value rests in this social significance, whereas its historical significance may never be proved. [John Low, Blue Mountains City Library].

Labor’s RTA threat to Explorers Tree

Now we learn that the Labor Government in New South Wales has tasked its Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) to continue widening the Great Western Highway past Katoomba through to Mt Victoria. The Explorers’ Tree is right on the Highway’s shoulder at Pulpit Hill. In November 2008, the RTA distributed a community update to a few selected households, advising that:

"Investigations have begun into the proposed upgrade f the existing raod
from Pulpit Hill to Mt Boyce (past Blackheath) for a mostly three lane
improved highway. "

That was two years ago.

Labor federally and in NSW is committing over a billion dollars to widening this
highway. The NSW Government has committed $360 million to the upgrade and the Australian Government has spent $100 million on the upgrade.

Yet despite the Explorers’ Tree being listed on Australia’s National Register, the RTA does not have it listed on its own heritage register.

Any cunning suggestion by the RTA about trying to move the Explorers’ Tree would be tantamount to desecration. If you move it, it loses its relevance. It would like moving the monument of Captain Cook’s landing to Martin Place - making it a piece of irrelevance.

The historic value of the Explorers’ Tree is as much about its direct connection with the three explorers, as it is about it surviving as a relic in situ along the original route taken across the Blue Mountains. That it survives in situ, where the settings are substantially intact, adds to its historic interpretative value. Any contemplation of altering the natural physical setting of the site, its juxtaposition alongside the highway, or to even move the tree, would be a desecration of its historical value and destroy its aesthetic value, its in situ fabric and its cultural significance.

The Blue Mountains is valued by Australians, not just for magnificent natural beauty but also for the unique pioneering heritage which started with the achievement of the first successful European crossing, two hundred years ago.

Labor’s Contempt for Cultural Heritage

Labor’s RTA continues to demonstrate an arrogant contempt for Australian cultural heritage. It has obliterated swathes of the original 1815 Cox’s Road at Woodford and Linden.

It has ripped up the 1830’s sandstone highway through Leura. It has all but demolished the town of Lawson, all to make way for its four lane highway.

According to The Association of Concerned Mid-Mountains Residents [ACMMR], the local Blue Mountains City Council passed an amendment to its Local Environment Plan (LEP) on 21st November 2006, officially recognizing Lawson’s heritage: the Old Community Hall (1903), MacBrair building (1923), Post Office (1925), Taylor Made Hair / Lawson Pizza (1907), Rees Butchery (1912), Century 21 and Mountain Magic (pre-1907) are also shown in the Heritage Conservation Area.

All have now been demolished by NSW Labor’s RTA to make way for Labor’s 4 lane
highway. Yet, ACMMR had highlighted to the RTA a local council plan from 1999, that had clearly demonstrated available room for a four-lane highway with safe convenient parking - without demolition.

RTA community consultation about heritage continues to be a token farce. Its
public exhibitions are notoriously short; it flatly ignores alternative highway design proposals from both local government and local residents.

Failure by Major Parties to respect and protect Australia’s heritage

The Federal Liberal and Labor parties in Australia and the Greens lack any formal policies for protecting Australia’s cultural heritage.

In New South Wales on 1st August 2005, just two days before the then NSW
Premier, Bob Carr, announced his intention to retire as New South Wales Premier, Part 3A of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 (EP&A Act) came into force.

Insertion of the new Part 3A (Major Projects) removed Part 5 (Environmental Assessment) from the EP&A Act. This facilitated major projects deemed to be “State significant”; they could be pushed through by legally ignoring environmental and heritage constraints. Part 3A gives absolute power to the Minister for Planning to declare a site “State Significant” and to approve any development on that site, to overrule objections of all local councils and communities, to sideline inconvenient Land and Environment Court and heritage decisions, to ignore expert advice, even from the Minister’s own department and were excempt from any legal appeal.

NSW has no Minister for Heritage. The planning minister rules over heritage matters. The Heritage Office has since been downgraded to subservient 'branch' status within this increasingly powerful NSW Department of Planning, where any heritage voice is silenced. NSW Labor has made the Heritage Council of NSW and the Heritage Act 1977 ineffectual.

The Minister for Planning has been incorporated as the ‘Corporation Sole Minister Administering the Heritage Act 1977’. This means if the heritage office raises concerns about development threats to heritage, the Minister for Planning has final say and typically development gets precedence. The current policy favours short term commercial self-interest over the value of more than 200 years of heritage of the Australian people.

So development planning in New South Wales has effectively become a ministerial
dictatorship, with Part 3A ruling that the community has no legal right of appeal.

Part 3A of the EP&A Act is also arguably in breach of our Federal Constitution.
Section 109 of the Australian Constitution dealing with “Inconsistency of laws” provides that when a law of a State is inconsistent with a law of the Commonwealth, the latter shall prevail, and the former shall, to the extent of the inconsistency, be invalid.

Successive ministers for planning in NSW like Frank Sartor and Kristina Keneally, have trashed heritage values in Pittwater. Now, under the latest NSW Planning Minister Tony Kelly, as recently as February 2010, we saw further extraordinary ministerial powers used to have heritage sites and items removed from the heritage register.

In an even more draconian step, the NSW Labor Government also announced in
February 2010, its changes to the State’s Heritage Act to give the Minister for Planning power to remove items from the State Heritage Register without the agreement of the Heritage Council.

In Sydney's Daily Telegraph 7-Feb-10, Matthew Benn’s article Weakening of Heritage Act sparks outcry said that the new draconian laws “drew outrage from the National Trust after councils allowed two historic buildings to be demolished to make way for a supermarket and a McDonald's driveway”.

"To a large extent, heritage protection in this State is now
illusory due to the recent changes to the Heritage Act", Greens planning
spokeswoman Sylvia Hale said. "These changes have now made it harder to
protect our heritage and easier to destroy it."

Mr Quint of The National Trust said the Trust was ''deeply concerned'' at the loss of a row of art deco shops in Kyogle in the State’s north, to make way for a supermarket and the demolition of an iconic theatre to create a driveway for a McDonald's restaurant.

State governments across Australia have consistently exercised scant regard for Australia’s cultural heritage. The mindset is that commercial development in the name of progress shows up Labor and Liberal parties as building economic activity and this somehow excuses acts of cultural desecration.

Australia’s Rudd Government follows a succession of federal governments that continue to neglect Australia's cultural heritage. In 2008, Heritage Minister Peter Garrett axed the National Cultural Heritage Forum, the peak body of 13 experts which advises the minister on heritage. A letter by 37 of Australia's prominent heritage leaders to Garrett, raised concerns about heritage conservation funding having been slashed to $200,000 for the whole of Australia that year, with no support for research or "skills critical to protecting Australia's historic heritage". Urgent need for a Heritage Order to protect the Explorers Tree

An urgent Heritage Order needs to be prepared to protect the fabric and site around the Explorers Tree, as well as a Conservation Management Plan outlining the future care and use of the area.

Call for an Australian National Heritage Act

The Australian People have a right to have our unique heritage respected and preserved. Special places and icons like the Explorers’ Tree are a vital symbolic part of Australia’s history and culture.

We are approaching the bicentenary of the explorers’ historic crossing of the Blue Mountains (May 2013) and the bicentenary of the construction of Cox’s Road (2015). We must be proactive.

The RTA’s destructive path demonstrates a Labor Party policy which encourages the disrespect for our Australian pioneers and convict ancestors who all laboured in the Blue Mountains.

Australians of all political persuasions need to rise up against Labor’s book-burning demolition of our pioneer heritage. State significant development is shortsighted if it blights our unique nationally significant heritage. If Australia loses its identity, then what do we have to treasure and feel proud?

Many Australians are not aware of the many dangers to Australia’s physical cultural heritage. They are unaware that it is being steadily destroyed by misguided government agencies with narrow interests which appease the advocates of commercial development .

The States have shown that they cannot be trusted with Australia’s cultural heritage.

It is vital that for Australia to maintain and develop its own cultural identity that it legislate to preserve Australia’s unique and irreplaceable national heritage for the benefit of future generations.

Australia needs an Australian National Heritage Act. Useful models in this regard may be found in Britain’s National Heritage Act 2002 and the National Heritage (Scotland) Act 1985. Local councils and citizens’ groups could be mobilized to propose it. It might be a ‘reform’ inside a system that eats away at national heritage in other ways, but it would have a major impact.

This Act would allow for the establishment of a National Heritage Commission to care for, preserve and add to the objects on, the National Heritage Register and to promote public awareness, appreciation and understanding of Australia’s historic and cultural heritage, and then - to provide education, instruction and advice and carry out research. The National Heritage Commission would effectively remove the heritage powers from the Heritage Ministers.

The Act needs to ratify the Burra Charter of the Australian National Committee of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (Australia ICOMOS), which sets standards for recognizing and managing items and places of important cultural significance for the "aesthetic, historic, scientific or social value for past, present or future generations".

National leadership to properly respect and legislate to protect Australia’s cultural heritage expressed in important relics like the Explorers’ Tree would initiate a legislative flow on effect.

New South Wales would be forced to strengthen its Heritage Act and remove the power of veto from the NSW Planning Minister. The RTA would be required to adapt its heritage guidelines to comply with the new Commonwealth heritage regime.

The heritage fabric of the Explorers Tree would be duly protected and any highway widening would be forced to give it a respectful wide berth, rather that destroy Australian cultural heritage.

Let the fight begin where it can!

Victorian Premier John Brumby's self-imposed 'desal' industrial overrun of a quiet rural Wonthaggi community, his belittling of Kinglake fire survivors, his prepossessed deals with donating commercial developers, all convey a Westminster dictatorship in action, or a unicameral presumptive autocracy.

'Community consultation' in Lib/Lab factional politics only exists in the expensive public documents of outsourced government consultants.

Australia's unquestioned and antiquated Westminster system lingers from mother Britain 200 years ago. On paper it is eulogized as 'responsible government', while in political practice discredited in Lib/Lab co-op party politics reliant upon cults of personality.

A Sketch of a Two-Tier Australian National State

Sir Henry Parkes's late 19th Century vision to unite six separate British self-governing colonies into a Federation of Australia was way back then progressive, logical and right for that time. It was a first step towards independence for what Australia was then still fragmented set of British colonies.

But Australia has changed significantly over the hundred odd years since then. Our present Constitution allows us, by law and by default, to be ruled by three tiers of government It is cumbersome, expensive and worse. Democracy itself is undermined by unaccountable government between the three year Federal elections and those other elections for the States and Councils. Should not Australians demand constitutional reform?

Why are we bound to the past? What if we went a new way? For the sake of debate, here is one:

A Vision for a post-Parkes Two-tier Australian National State

A New Two Tier Government System?

We would get one true chance at a new system for Australia amidst the turmoil of the future. We need to think in a ‘revolutionary way’ to arrive at proper and democratic outcomes.

* Australian National Government to make the transition to a more direct democracy with a parliament elected geographically and occupationally, with some delegates changing from session to session if the constituents demand it.

* All State and Territory governments to be abolished.

* All of Australia's 560 odd local councils to be abolished, pending reconstruction.

* Each state government to make the transition to a single house executive 'county government' to replace capital city councils and take responsibility for a broad regional area encapsulating the entire metropolitan area in which they were formerly placed.

Geographic Basis

* New county governments to be established aligned on a natural regional basis of
(1) Australia's 85 bio-regions, and (2) take some account of Australian ancient Aboriginal tribal boundaries, and (3) employ a series of community-based forums and plebiscites to decide on final boundaries. The offices of the previous councils to be utilised and adapted. Direct democracy; citizens’ initiated referenda and voter recall to be brought into the system.

* The county assemblies to serve as elected structures, but not necessarily on the basis of set terms; they should allow for continual election and wider participation, with participation not set as always geographic but occupational, family and other.

National Jurisdictions

* The National Government to retain is current jurisdictions and to adopt most jurisdictions of the States, namely:

1. National Transport - all roads, all rail, all shipping, all ports, car registrations, licensing, related infrastructure.

2. National Health - all hospitals, healthcare, aged care, ambulance services, integrated to allow universal free medical care.

3. National Education - all child care, primary, secondary and tertiary education.

4. National Environmental Conservation Management, transitioning all State forests of high conservation value into National Parks, with remaining Crown land handed to the new counties

5. Australian Heritage

6. The Arts

7. National Police Force management

8. New Emergency Management Australia to include a merger of all fire fighting agencies (both metropolitan and rural), State emergency services and expansion into centrally co-ordinated disaster prevention, management and relief functions

County Jurisdictions

4. Crown Lands (now county lands) not deemed high conservation value which may be converted into National Parks

5. County community services - unemployment benefits, pensions, housing and basic safety net services

11. Energy planning (jointly with Federal Government) - for further consideration

Revenue Bases

* County governments to acquire the revenue bases of the respective multiple councils lying within the new county boundaries

* All State revenues to pass to the Federal Government, except that county governments may acquire revenues from agreed sources – possibly from a raft of taxes such as: payroll tax, stamp duties, and property based taxes such as land tax, as well as any sales tax revenue [collected by the national government under the current method, but 100% distributed to all counties on a per capita basis], and a percentage of Company Tax (using the distributed method as currently).

* All revenues from motor vehicle related taxes to transfer to the National government which would be responsible for national transport.

Democratic Contract

* As a safeguard against repeating the current system of broken electoral promises, the respective National and County governments are to be held accountable for electoral promises - or else a re-election can be triggered. This would take the form of election promises formalising into an 'election contract' with the people, wherein at the end of each financial year if certain percentage of the contractual promises for that first year have not been delivered, this will trigger an election. This would require constitutional reform enabling Binding Citizens Initiated Referendum along the lines of the Swiss model.

Legislation

* State based courts (except county courts) to come under National jurisdiction. New County Courts to be a merger of old district or county courts and magistrates courts.

* All Acts to be at the National jurisdiction, with county governments responsible for county By-Laws. Pre-existing State legislation to be rationalised to be made consistent and thence to be part of a National legal system.
